1.2nd Annual Global Fractured Reservoir Development Praxis Interactive Technology Workshop
 Dates 20 Feb 2012 → 23 Feb 2012
[ID=460779] Go to top of page
 LocationAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Abstract It is estimated that more than 60% of the world's proven hydrocarbon reserves lie in naturally fractured reservoirs. Thus, the high potential of naturally fractured reservoirs is out there to discover. However, the high degree of reservoir heterogeneity and the complexity of the paths of hydrocarbon and other fluids created by fractures require us to characterize fractured reservoirs accurately to make use of assistance from fractures and their inhibition in hydrocarbon production so as to achieve ultimate recovery.
Topics Reservoir Characterization, Geomechanics, Seismic and Stratigraphic Conditioning in Modeling, Natural fracturing, Physical characteristics of fractures, Fracture hydraulic properties, Classification of fractured reservoirs, Stress and strain, Fracture study, Detection methods

2.Drilling Operations: Completions and Workover
 Dates 04 Mar 2012 → 07 Mar 2012
[ID=462178] Go to top of page
 LocationKuwait, United Arab Emirates
Abstract This short course is aiming to build a firm foundation in the principles and practices of directional and horizontal drilling methods, samples of calculations, and planning for directional and horizontal wells will be discussed. Specific problems associated with directional/horizontal drilling such as torque, drag, hole cleaning, logging and drill string component design are included.

The candidates will receive instruction on planning and evaluating both directional and horizontal wells. We will discuss and clarify issues related to well completion and completion fluids. The course will cover in details all work-over operations with procedures and problem solving. The basic applications and techniques for multi-lateral wells will be covered in this course. Additionally, the learners will become familiar with the tools and techniques used in both horizontal and directional drilling such as survey instruments, bottom-hole assemblies, motors, steerable motors and steerable rotary systems.

The course will provide a good opportunity for the learners to predict wellbore path based on historical data and determine the requirements to reach the target.

Topics Well completions, Wireline services, Tubing design and selection, Directional Drilling.

[ID=449585] Go to top of page
 LocationDubai, United Arab Emirates
Abstract Gas & LNG contracts involve tremendous commercial risks; yet present significant commercial opportunities, particularly given the sums involved. Many projects slow down or fail because the gas contract chain, the contract terms and the negotiation process are not fully understood. Others go ahead but on unequal terms. Successful contracts need informed buyers, sellers and transporters.

 LocationAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Abstract Corrosion presents by far the biggest threat to integrity of facilities: onshore and offshore; surface and sub-surface. Corrosion induced failures can, not only cause downtime, shutdown and affect the production, but in many cases present major health, safety and environmental threats. Corrosion protection can be achieved by changing either the material or the operating environment. Material changes can include upgrading to corrosion resistant alloys or changing from metallic to non-metallic materials. Environmental changes can be induced by introduction of oilfield chemicals, application of coating or by electrochemical means.
