abstract: The European Physical Society will organise the 2nd European Topical Meeting on Nanophotonics and Metamaterials (NANOMETA 2009) which will be held in Seefeld ski resort, Tirol, Austria during 5-8 January, 2009. This will be the second conference in the NANOMETA series following a meeting in January 2007 attended by many leading authorities in the field. NANOMETA 2009 aims to bring together the international Nanophotonics and Metamaterials research communities and will be devoted to papers reporting new and challenging results and ideas in these burgeoning fields. The technical programme will include invited and selected contributed papers in the areas of • Photonic and microwave meta-materials • Near-field optics • Plasmonics and nano-photonics • Optical super-resolution • Transformation optics • Nano-bio-photonics The conference will be organised in two oral parallel sessions (Nanophotonics and Metamaterials) and will feature joint plenary, tutorial and post-de
