| 1. | [ID=168974]SECOQC QKD Network Demonstration and Conference | | 08 Oct 2008 → 10 Oct 2008; Vienna, Austria | | abstract: The first live demonstration of a working quantum key distribution (QKD) network will take place in Vienna in the framework of the SECOQC international conference. Seven technologically different QKD-links are deployed on a typical telecom metropolitan area ring network (MAN). They are combined to form the Quantum-Back-Bone network, physically connecting five company sites of SIEMENS Austria. We will present the building blocks that are necessary to bring QKD networks to the market. The interface with existing business applications is demonstrated for voice telephony and video conferencing, secured by keys distributed over the SECOQC Quantum-Back-Bone. | | topics: Quantum cryptography, Quantum mechanics, Quantum information, Information security, Cryptography, Networks | | weblink: http://www.secoqc.net/html/conference/ | | related subject(s): Information Security; Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Information Theory |
| 2. | [ID=159279]IWSOS 2008 — Third International Workshop on Self-Organizing Systems 2008 | | 10 Dec 2008 → 12 Dec 2008; Vienna, Austria | | abstract: IWSOS 2008 is the third workshop in a series of annual workshops dedicated to self-organization in networks and networked systems. The necessity for and expected benefit of self-organization is caused by the growing scale, complexity, and heterogeneity of future networked systems, like the future Internet. For example, these networks will consist of interconnected infrastructure-based, mobile ad-hoc, and sensor networks that could be spontaneously deployed in hostile environments, have a dynamic population and a potentially short life time. In spite of this, there will be stringent user requirements, such as resilience and real-time guarantees. Although self-organization is desirable for these kinds of networks, it is not yet clear to what extent self-organization can be exploited. | | weblink: http://iwsos.ani.univie.ac.at |
