	abstract: It is a great pleasure for the organizing committee to invite you to the upcoming Joint Meeting of the German Crystallographic Society, the German Mineralogical Society, and the Austrian Mineralogical Society. You are cordially invited to attend the conference which will be held at the University of Salzburg, Faculty of Natural Sciences, September 20–24, 2011. Scientific sessions as well as plenary lectures on different topics of current interest will cover a wide range of fields from mineral resources to high-tech materials to protein crystallography and will show the unique position of crystallography and mineralogy between physics, chemistry, biology, and material sciences. We are looking forward to your attendance and contributions from all fields of crystallographic and mineralogical research.
