Abstract Our joint Riding the Wave conference acknowledges that a multidisciplinary, early intervention approach is the first wave of treatment and is crucial in ensuring that there are improvements in prevention and management. However, we wish to ensure that the ride is worthwhile for subsequent waves of treatment by showcasing the latest life enhancing treatments and procedures for adults with neuromuscular conditions who may have missed out on these new early interventions, or have adult onset forms of this condition. The Riding the Wave conference will, for the first time, cover many issues to enhance both quantity with quality of life for those who are now living longer, so that they can maintain good health and increase their participation in all aspects of community life.
