	abstract: The Symposium is organized every four years by the International Radiation Commission (IRC, President: Dr. Teruyuki Nakajima), and this edition will be hosted jointly by Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas and Instituto de Física from Universidade de Sao Paulo , Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais – Centro de Previsão de Tempo e Estudos Climáticos, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and Universidade Federal de Itajubá. This will be the first edition in South America and is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences on the current problems in atmospheric radiation from theory and modeling to measurements and applications on weather and climate. The official language of this symposium is English.
