	abstract: Clinical biology has evolved continually over these past few decades, sometimes in quite dazzling leaps. The technological evolution has been accompanied by changes in the way laboratories function. These changes were made while conserving the very essence of our profession, that is to say a function of health practitioner close to his patient whose role of “consultant” is progressively being established. This maturation has been managed by the representatives of the profession. Today, the environment has entirely changed. Europe is overriding French regulations, which is going to transform the organisation of clinical biology.
