abstract: Mass mailing viruses are a thing of the past; messaging threats now encompass worries about protecting more than just email. From IM, blogs and wikis, to VoIP and unified communications, messaging security has become more about compliance, data leakage, e-discovery and intellectual property theft.

The threats to messaging platforms have expanded in size and increased in intensity. While viruses, spam and phishing continue to undermine email security, new messaging threats via IM, VoIP and mobile devices are emerging.
