	abstract: Hard and electromagnetic probes play a key role in the study of the strongly interacting matter created in high energy heavy-ion collisions. Recent new measurements and theoretical developments have resulted in significant progress and incisive understanding of the properties of hot QCD matter. Hard probes will play a central role in upcoming RHIC runs as well as in the LHC heavy-ion program that is now getting under way. The biannual "Hard Probes" series is among the leading conferences in the field of high-energy heavy-ion physics, providing a forum for in-depth discussion of hard and electromagnetic probes and related topics in a moderate-sized meeting.
