Hard probes will play a central role in upcoming RHIC runs as well as in the LHC heavy-ion program that is now getting under way. The biannual "Hard Probes" series is among the leading conferences in the field of high-energy heavy-ion physics, providing a forum for in-depth discussion of hard and electromagnetic probes and related topics in a moderate-sized meeting.
