	abstract: The Soreq Applied Research Accelerator Facility (SARAF), currently under construction at Soreq Nuclear Research Center (Israel), is a high-intensity superconducting linear accelerator for light ions (2-milliAmpere 40-MeV protons, deuterons) and belongs to a new generation of accelerators. The aim of the present workshop is to bring the potential of the SARAF laboratory to the knowledge of researchers in several related fields of science and mainly in nuclear science. Through presentations of state-of-the-art research, we hope to help identifying areas where the specific properties of the new accelerator would likely make significant contributions. The workshop is expected also to seed collaborative efforts between research groups.
