Role of Geosciences in Carbon Storage
19 Mar 2024 - 21 Mar 2024 • Mumbai, India
Organizer:
Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG)
Abstract:
Despite the importance of CCS for achieving clean energy transitions, its deployment has been slow to take off in different parts of the world. There are only 20 commercial CCS operations worldwide, although hundreds will be needed globally to achieve net zero targets. CCS activities have been prioritized and implemented in several developed nations; however, many countries in Asia (including India), Central and South America and Africa have no CCS activities besides a few exceptions. In India, momentum for sustainable energy and CCS research activities increased after the Prime Minister declared the Net Zero target as 2070. Thus, the time is right to invite experts from across the globe to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences, and the Symposium will be a platform for such collaborations.
