	abstract: The International Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IIEES) is a comprehensive research and educational institute with the main objective of mitigating the seismic risk both in Iran and the region by promoting research and education in science and technology related to Seismo-tectonics, Seismology, Earthquake Prediction, Earthquake Engineering, Risk Management and Public Education. Having organized successfully SEE1 in 1991 with 193 papers from over 30 countries, SEE2 in 1995 with 199 papers from 35 countries, SEE3 in 1999 with 197 papers from 37 countries, SEE4 in 2003 with 241 papers from 34 countries and SEE5 in 2007 with 550 papers from 45 countries, IIEES hopes that SEE6 will bring more scientists together and make the conference a memorable scientific and cultural event.
