| 2. | [ID=127411]The 2008 Collapse Calderas Workshop — Reconstructing the evolution of collapse calderas: Magma storage, mobilisation and eruption |
| 19 Oct 2008 → 25 Oct 2008; Queretaro, Mexico |
| abstract: The workshop is dedicated to the exploration of our current understanding of processes related to the formation and the behaviour of collapse calderas. Following up on the 2005 calderas workshop held in Tenerife (Spain), the new workshop provides a continuation of community efforts towards increasing our understanding of caldera volcanism. The 2008 workshop will have a focus on geological aspects of caldera studies but at the same time aims at integrating other disciplines such as geophysics, magma physics, hazard assessment, risk mitigation, economic prospecting and exploration as well as mathematical and analogue modelling. As in 2005, the fundamental spirit of the workshop is to provide a cross-boundary interdisciplinary platform for discussion and knowledge disssimination. |
