abstract: Kernz08 aims at covering a wide spectrum of research activities, both theoretical and experimental that bring together nuclear structure and nuclear reactions, as well as applications such as nuclear astrophysics. Though these research directions often involve different sub-communities of nuclear physicists, we have seen that the interplay between these fields has not only been strengthened in recent years, but should also strengthen and unify nuclear physics itself.
