Bitsadze100 — International scientific conference Actual Problems in Theory of Partial Differential Equations, dedicated to the centenary of Andrey V. Bitsadze
16 Jul 2016 - 18 Jul 2016
Moscow, Russia
Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University and the V.A. Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences hold an international scientific conference 'Actual problems of the theory of partial differential equations', dedicated to the centenary of A.V. Bitsadze.

May 22, 2016, is the centenary of an outstanding mathematician, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1958), Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR (1969), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), Honored Scientist of the Georgian SSR, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Andrey Vasilyevich Bitsadze (05/22/1916 - 06/09/1994).

The working career of Andrey Bitsadze started very early. After graduating from the Chiatura Pedagogical College, for sixteen years he taught mathematics and physics in junior high schools in villages of Tskhrukveti, Chala and Nigozeti in his native Chiatura district. Since 1935 till 1940 A.V.Bitsadze was a student of the physics and mathematics faculty of the Tbilisi State University. In 1940 Andrey Bitsadze graduated with honor from the University in 'Mathematics' and entered the graduate school of the Tbilisi Mathematical Institute at the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR. In 1945 A.V. Bitsadze defended his thesis 'General representation of solutions for elliptic systems of differential equations and their applications' and continued to work at the institute until 1948.
