	abstract: The Moscow International Symposium on Magnetism (MISM) was held at Moscow State University in 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008. The latter meeting MISM-2008 had gathered more than 600 scientists from 34 countries, including USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Russia and Former Soviet Republics. The Proceedings of MISM-2008 were published in Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials and in Solid State Phenomena. In view of the success of previous meetings and in response to numerous requests of the participants, the International Advisory Committee has decided to shape up MISM as a regular triennial event.
