Abstract
Modern medical therapies are characterized by an increasing number of technological support, medical devices, information systems, imaging components or assistance systems. The need for research and development into new medical systems and networked applications for computer-assisted therapies is growing rapidly and new technologies have to be integrated into the clinical environment. Moreover, these systems need to be able to communicate and interact with each other and with the hospital’s IT environment. The Digital Operating Room Summer School (DORS) encourages a new generation of young scientists from the fields of medicine, engineering and computer science to face the challenges resulting from the integration of new technologies for computer-assisted diagnosis and therapy.DORS is primarily aimed at graduates, doctoral students, post-docs and senior scientists from research and industry with an interdisciplinary working background. The six-day course with an exciting program will comprise lectures, hands-on sessions and site visits to give an extensive overview of medical technology in digital operating rooms and interventional suites from different perspectives along with insights into current research projects and problems. Clinical experts and users will explain their views and expectations regarding innovative computer-assisted technologies as well as the current state of the art in clinical practice and research. Both, successful developments and negative examples will be addressed. Moreover, the technical background of innovative infrastructure and technical standards will be examined, and various architectures, frameworks and communication technologies for computer assisted interventions are presented.

17th Annual National Conference of Indian Association of Endocrine Surgeons - Discover the Difference
ID
803578
Dates
17 Sep 2016 - 18 Sep 2016
Location
Meerut, India
Abstract
Endocrine surgical disorders, specially related to thyroid, are frequently recognized. Looking at the different nature of the tumors arising from thyroid, parathyroids, adrenals, endocrine pancreas, and neuro-endocrine tissues, as well as an altogether different management approach and follow ups of such tumors, a different surgical speciality - Endocrine Surgery, is being developed. This speciality deals dedicatedly with tumors of endocrine origin, which is a great help for the endocrine physicians also. Endocrine surgery, is rapidly being recognized, nation-wide and gaining popularity, still, it is a relatively new concept, and the unawareness leads to mis-diagnosis and mis-management of majority of patients. Looking at this aspect, in 1993, The Indian Association of Endocrine Surgeons (IAES) was formed as a section of Association of Surgeons of India, which takes pride in the dissemination of Principles and Practice of Endocrine Surgery, via CME programmes, Fellowship (FAES) programmes, video lectures and workshops, to update the practicing endocrine surgeons as well as to enhance the interest of endocrine Surgery amongst the surgeons. This year this event is being hosted in the north zone, and we expect a great scientific feast, with the world's best endocrine surgeons. Please mark your calendar, we'll be happy to have you with us.

EPIC SEC is a cutting-edge update of the newest strategies in coronary, structural heart, and peripheral vascular imaging, physiology and intervention. Cardiovascular practice has never evolved more rapidly than today as cardiologists and surgeons collaborate to offer exciting new options for patients in need of percutaneous and minimally invasive hybrid therapies. Arteries, valves, veins, infarcting and hypertrophied myocardium and other anatomic sites are targets for intervention and symptom relief and are involved in a vast array of cardiovascular pathologies including STEMI, unstable angina/non-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, acute stroke, claudication and limb salvage, chronic valvular and perivalvular defects, adult congenital heart disease, and many other conditions. This course will feature live case demonstrations, lectures, presentations and discussions of complex cases, debates between well-known interventionalists and surgeons, and the opportunity for insightful audience participation and discussion. The national concern regarding appropriate selection for diagnostic studies and intervention will be addressed in detail. The conference will feature joint sessions, as well as dedicated tracks for coronary, structural and peripheral intervention.
