Meetings/Workshops on General Mathematical Research in the United States (USA)

Conference-Service.com offers, as part of our business activities, a directory of upcoming scientific and technical meetings. The calendar is published for the convenience of conference participants and we strive to support conference organisers who need to publish their upcoming events. Although great care is being taken to ensure the correctness of all entries, we cannot accept any liability that may arise from the presence, absence or incorrectness of any particular information on this website. Always check with the meeting organizer before making arrangements to participate in an event!

Meeting organizers can submit meetings free of charge for inclusion into the listing.

1.go to top of page[ID=21758]International Workshop on Operator Theory and its Applications (IWOTA
22 Jul 2008 → 26 Jul 2008; Williamsburg, Virginia, United States

abstract: The conference will be devoted both to theoretical and applied aspects of Operator Theory and their interactions. The IWOTA workshops bring together mathematicians and engineers working in operator theory and its applications to related fields, ranging from classical analysis, differential and integral equations, complex and harmonic analysis to mathematical physics, mathematical system and control theory, signal processing and numerical analysis.

18 Aug 2008 → 22 Aug 2008; American Institute of Mathematics, Palo Alto, United States

abstract: This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will be devoted to frame theory in finite dimensions with an emphasis on compressive sensing and quantization theory for frames.

3.go to top of page[ID=150418]Small Ball Inequalities in Analysis, Probability and Irregularities of Distribution
08 Dec 2008 → 12 Dec 2008; American Institute of Mathematics, Palo Alto, United States

abstract: This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will be devoted to a theme common to irregularity of distributions, approximation theory, probability theory and harmonic analysis. In each of these subjects, there are outstanding conjectures in dimensions three and higher that stipulate that functions which satisfy certain conditions on its mixed derivative are necessarily large in sup norm. This workshop will survey these conjectures, seeking both commonalities and differences, describe recent advances, and discuss proof techniques and strategies.
