Zusammenfassung: This seminar is dedicated to Jairo Antonio Charris Castañeda (in memoriam) and in this occasion is devoted to orthogonal polynomials, complex variables and their applications, emphasizing his scientific legacy.

Zusammenfassung: This is a semester-long research program that will also offer three workshops: Broader Connections: Analysis of Singular Spaces, August 28, 2008, to August 29, 2008; Introductory Workshop on Analysis of Singular Spaces, September 2, 2008, to September 5, 2008; and Elliptic and Hyperbolic Equations on Singular Spaces October 27, 2008, to October 31, 2008.

Zusammenfassung: This workshop is devoted to mathematical aspects of Laplacian Growth. A broad class of non-equilibrium growth processes have a common law: the normal velocity of the growing boundary of a region is proportional to the gradient of a harmonic field on the exterior. This type of growth (called Laplacian growth) is unstable for nearly all initial configurations. Instabilities develop into fractal singular patterns. Similar instabilities occur in the hydrodynamics of immiscible fluids.

Zusammenfassung: The proposed conference aims to bring together all the researchers working in various fields of Mathematics, Mathematical Physics and related areas such as Analysis, Non-linear Analysis, Number Theory, p-adic Analysis, Special Functions, q-Analysis, Mathematical Physics and their applications.

Zusammenfassung: As a continuation of the previous conferences held in Czech Republic, Finland and Germany, we are now organizing the 70th International Conference on function spaces, differential operators and nonlinear analysis. The conference celebrates twenty years of FSDONA conferences and will be organized between August 25-29, 2008 in Helsinki, Finland. The conference is preceded by a workshop, August 22-24, aimed especially at younger researchers.

Zusammenfassung: This conference, to be held at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, brings together leading specialists on nonlinear wave equations, geometric analysis and general relativity. Among the topics to be covered are Ricci flow, conformal geometry, nonlinear wave equations, black hole uniqueness and stability, as well as aspects of the constraint equations and the initial value problem for the Einstein equations.

Zusammenfassung: Five lectures, accessible to upper division undergraduates in mathematics, on the state of the art in Nonlinear Functional Analysis will presented by: Peter Bates (Mathematical excursions inspired by material science), Monica Clapp (Classical and recent results on elliptic problems with critical nonlinearity), Yanyan Li (A Liouville theorem and a Harnack inequality), Ratnasingham Shivaji (Population dynamics with diffusion), and Zhi-Qiang Wang (A twisting condition, resonances, and periodic solution to Hamiltonian systems.
