Roman Number Theory Association (RNTA)

This conference is devoted to the areas of L-functions and autmorphic forms. In particular, it focusses on the interactions between both fields, which have a long and fruitful history since the fundamental work by Hecke about 90 years ago. The topics will focus on new developments around the areas indicated in the title, as well as establishing and furthering dialogue on new developments at the boundary of these areas. Given the ubiquity of automorphic forms throughout number theory as well as their strong interaction with the field of L-functions, it is very reasonable to expect that both areas will benefit from each other in the future as well. It is likely that this would lead to ideas more broadly useful in other areas of pure mathematics as well as to new types of objects to inspect and new structural questions within both fields.

ICERM

In the 1980s, Ceresa exhibited one of the first naturally occurring examples of an algebraic cycle, the Ceresa cycle, which is in general homologically trivial but algebraically nontrivial. In the last few years, there has been a renewed interest in the Ceresa cycle, and other cycle classes associated to curves over arithmetically interesting fields, and their interactions with analytic, combinatorial, and arithmetic properties of those curves. We hope to capitalize on this momentum to bring together different communities of arithmetic geometers to fully explore explicit computations around the arithmetic and geometry of cycles when these various approaches are systematically combined.

Oklahoma State University in Stillwater

Over the last 36 years, the Annual Workshop on Automorphic Forms and Related Topics has remained a small and friendly conference. This year the conferece will take place May 20-24th in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Those attending range from students to new PhD's to established researchers. For young researchers, the conference has provided support and encouragement. For accomplished researchers, it has provided the opportunity to mentor as well as a forum for exchanging ideas. The workshop has become internationally recognized for both its high-quality research talks and its supportive atmosphere for junior researchers. Participants present cutting-edge research in all areas related to automorphic forms. These include mock modular forms, Maass wave forms, elliptic curves, Siegel and Jacobi modular forms, special values of L-functions, random matrices, quadratic forms, applications of modular forms, and many other topics.

CBW 2024

The aim of this school is to introduce students to some aspect of (algorithmic) number theory and arithmetic geometry and the very fruitful interplay between those subjects and the applied disciplines of cryptography and coding theory. This interplay has been very fruitful in the recent and not so recent past, notable examples being the construction of cryptosystems using elliptic curves over finite fields and the construction of codes using algebraic varieties. Our program consists of four courses on algorithmic number theory, elliptic curves, algebraic coding theory and isogeny based cryptography, respectively. These courses will introduce the students to a variety of tools in number theory and arithmetic geometry as well as their applications in cryptography and coding theory. Topics will include class groups of number fields and Buchmann's subexponential algorithm for computing them, the Mordell-Weil theorem for elliptic curves over number fields, Reed-Muller code and Goppa code, algorithms to compute and evaluate isogenies of elliptic curves. Every course will combine theoretical and practical aspects: exercises and programming sessions will be held in all four courses, putting students' proactive learning at the center of this project.

Las Jornadas de Teoría de Números comenzaron su andadura en 2005 siendo Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) sede de la primera edición. Desde entonces se han repetido cada dos años, salvo el obligado parón en 2021 por la pandemia, teniendo como sede diferentes ciudades universitarias a lo largo de la geografía española. El objetivo de las jornadas es reunir a teoristas de números fundamentalmente de España y Latinoamérica, sin cerrar la puerta a una mayor proyección internacional, y mostrar el estado actual de la investigación, así como fomentar la colaboración entre diferentes grupos de investigación. Se da mucha importancia a la participación activa de investigadores jóvenes.

The “Comparative Prime Number Theory” symposium is one of the highlight events organized by the PIMS-funded Collaborative Research Group (CRG) “L-functions in Analytic Number Theory”. It is a one-week event taking place on the UBC campus in Vancouver, B.C., Canada from June 17–21, 2024. Comparative prime number theory certainly includes prime number races, both classical (Chebyshev's bias) and over number fields and function fields. It also broadly includes the distribution of zeros of L-functions associated with these prime counting functions, including topics related to the Linear Independence hypothesis (LI) on the imaginary parts of those zeros, as well as general oscillations of number-theoretic error terms.

The third edition of the GABY conference will take place at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milan, Italy)from June 17 through June 21, 2024. The conference is aimed mainly at young researchers working in group theory, algebras and related topics. The conference will offer the following three mini-courses: "The interplay of R-matrices and Quantum Groups" by Andrea Appel, University of Parma; "Computational group theory: bedrock and new frontiers" by Melissa Lee, Monash University; "Burnside groups and groups acting on rooted trees" by Anitha Thillaisundaram, Lund University. Participants can contribute with a talk or a poster. Some funds may be available to cover accommodation for some participants. The deadline for registering is May 31, 2024. There is a conference fee of 75€ that must be paid by May 31. The fee is reduced to 50€ for those who register and pay by April 30. The fee can also be paid upon arrival, in which case it is increased to 100€. The registration is considered complete after the payment of the fee.

Chantal David has made important and original contributions to our understanding of arithmetic, in topics such as elliptic curves, abelian varieties, families of curves over finite fields and zeroes of L-functions. There are many facets to her work, which involves arithmetic statistics, analytic number theory, and random matrix theory. By her roles as a leader and a mentor, Chantal David has been a leading inspiration for progress in analytic number theory in Canada. The aim of this meeting is to focus on current hot topics in analytic number theory, celebrating her contributions to the field, and her importance in our community.

In 2019, the organizers created a workshop called Number Theory in the Americas, which brought together junior and senior mathematicians from North, Central, and South America, to work together on research projects. The workshop resulted in at least seven publications, and served as a first collaboration experience for many of the junior researchers. The organizers propose to create a follow-up workshop in order to provide collaboration opportunities for the PhD students and postdocs who were too young to participate the last time. The workshop will be held in Spanish in order to erase the additional obstacle of communicating in English. We will welcome native and non-native speakers alike

Number Theory Down Under (NTDU) interest group of the Australian Mathematical Society (AustMS)

Number Theory Down Under (NTDU) will be held at La Trobe University, Bendigo Campus, Australia this year from the 9th to the 12th of September, 2024. This will be the second time Bendigo has hosted NTDU.

The NTDU interest group was officially recognised in 2015 as part of AustMS, but has been active since 2013 when the series of Number Theory Down Under Conferences was initiated in Newcastle as a one-day workshop. This annual event has since become one of the regular activities of the group, and has transformed into a full-scale international conference, promoting number theory in Australia. It brings together Australian and international number theorists to share ideas, pursue collaborative work, and establish connections to other fields of mathematics.

Since then it has been held annually on a weekend in early Fall (except 2001, when the conference was cancelled due to the attacks that September). We invite number theorists and mathematicians in related areas from New England, eastern Canada, and beyond to speak about their research and discuss ideas for future work. Each year there is a change in venue: odd years at UMaine, even years at U. Laval.
