Zusammenfassung: The 22nd International Conference on Atomic Physics will be held in the city of Cairns, in Tropical North Queensland, Australia. Following the tradition of ICAP, the conference will present an outstanding program of invited speakers covering the most recent subjects in the field of atomic physics. There will also be poster sessions for contributed papers.

Zusammenfassung: The fifth international summer school in the series "Quantum Monte Carlo and the CASINO program" will take place during August 2010 at the TTI monastery in the Tuscan Apuan Alps in Italy, organized and hosted by members of Cambridge University physics department's Theory of Condensed Matter Group. The aim of the school is to give students a thorough introduction to quantum Monte Carlo as a method for performing high-quality calculations of the electronic structure of atoms, molecules, and materials. The course is designed for young quantum chemists or theoretical physicists who have no previous experience with this technique, though anyone interested is welcome to take part.

Zusammenfassung: The ASOS meeting has been held once every three years since its inception in Lund in 1983 and has provided a forum for atomic spectroscopists and astronomers from around the world to meet and discuss atomic data from the perspectives of their production and application.

The 10th ASOS meeting will be organized by University of California Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory. It will comprise three days of invited talks, contributed talks, and poster presentations. The conference will begin with a welcome reception on Tuesday evening. An outing to locations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area is also being planned.

The ASOS conference represents an ideal occasion for students wanting to learn about atomic physics and its applications in astrophysical and laboratory plasmas. Student participation is highly encouraged. Attempts will be made to defray some of the cost of student participation.

Zusammenfassung: Dieses Seminar vermittelt methodische Grundlagen, Kenntnisse in der Gerätetechnik, Hinweise zur Spektrenaufnahme sowie die verschiedenen aufgabenorientierten Messwertdarstellungen. Es wird ausführlich auf Probenpräparation, deren mögliche Fehler, Fehlererkennung und Fehlervermeidung eingegangen. Besonderen Schwerpunkt bildet hierbei die Spektreninterpretation anhand von Fallbeispielen in der qualitativen- und quantitativen Spektrenauswertung.

Zusammenfassung: HCI 2010 is the 15th in a series of International Conference on the Physics of Highly Charged Ions. The past two conferences were in Chofu, Japan and Belfast, UK in 2008 and 2006 respectively. Zusammenfassung: European Conference on Dynamics of Molecular Systems focuses on the different aspects of atomic and molecular interactions, with emphasis on both experimental and theoretical studies of the dynamics of elastic, inelastic and reactive encounters between atoms, molecules, ions, clusters and surfaces.

Zusammenfassung: n recent years there has been an explosion of activity on cold Rydberg gases resulting in a diverse range of exciting developments that combine aspects of atomic and molecular physics, nonlinear optics, statistical physics, quantum information science, condensed matter and plasma physics. The aim of this workshop is to promote scientific exchange and interaction between researchers working in these and related areas.

The workshop will cover a range of topics, including the dynamics and exotic phases of strongly interacting quantum systems, as occurring in ultracold molecular and Rydberg gases, coherent control of Rydberg atoms and molecules, with applications in quantum optics and quantum information, formation of Rydberg and antimatter atoms and their interactions with strong fields and solid state interfaces, as well as ultracold plasma physics.

The two week event is part of a Tandem Workshop program with the Institute for Theoretical Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (ITAMP) at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (see\\ http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/itamp/Rydberg09.html). The first workshop week will consist of invited talks and contributed poster presentations. During the second week we will provide extensive time for informal talks and discussions among a smaller number of researchers, intended to explore common interests and possibly initiate collaborative work.

Zusammenfassung: This workshop is to bring together a group of scientists, mathematicians, and physicians to discuss the device-biological interactions at the material-tissue interfaces from the perspective of medical efficacy and scientific mechanisms. Medical, engineering, and mathematic tools will be used. The goal of the workshop is to identify challenges and opportunities in the fields to stimulate collaborations among physicians, scientists, and mathematicians. Topics of the workshop include 1. Biological reactions to foreign material (implant), including blood clotting and inflammation reactions; 2. Bacterial colonization at implant surface and biofilm formation; 3. Responses of tissues to the electric stimulations and sensing; 4. Mechanical interactions between implants and the tissues: in vivo loading conditions and their effects on tissues (e.g. atrophy and hypertrophy).

Zusammenfassung: LIBS 2010 will focus on the scientific and commercial developments, as well as applications of Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS). A significant feature of this technique, currently under rapid development, is the capability of remote/standoff and real-time determination of the chemical composition of any sample, whatever its nature or physical state.

Zusammenfassung: The scope of the meeting ranges from theoretical and fundamental aspects to recent advances and novel developments in characterization and analysis of polymers. The symposium brings together scientists specialized in different spectroscopic techniques, giving them the opportunity to broaden their minds beyond their individual fields of work.
