Zusammenfassung: The AH international conference focuses on scientific contributions towards augmenting humans capabilities through technology for increased well-being and enjoyable human experience.

Zusammenfassung: This conference brings together people who design, develop, prescribe, research and use technology to enhance the functional capacity and quality of life of older adults. It’s the perfect venue for dialogue between engineers, ICT experts, health and social care professionals, architects, social science researchers and educators and others working in this multi-disciplinary field.

Topics to be discussed include cutting-edge innovations in: smart homes and smart materials, robotics, mobile and wireless communication systems, online goods and services, computer games, and applications of new technologies in health and social care. The latter include management of chronic illness in the community and supporting people with dementia living at home or in congregate settings. The conference will also address markets and business issues including: understanding the older consumer, developing effective markets for care technology, connectedness and the digital divide, and knowledge transfer from research into commercial products

Zusammenfassung: The main theme of this workshop is intercultural collaboration, from both technical and socio-cultural perspectives. Topics will include collaboration support (such as natural language processing, Web, and Internet technologies), social psychological analyses of intercultural interaction, and case studies from activists working to increase mutual understanding in our multicultural world.

Zusammenfassung: UX Australia 2009 is a 3-day user experience design conference, with inspiring and practical presentations, covering a range of topics about how to design great experiences for people.

Zusammenfassung: For over 25 years the BCS HCI conference has brought together researchers, developers and industrialists from around the world to discuss the wide range of topics and ideas encompassed ithin Human Computer Interaction. As a result, networks have been created, partnerships formed, new research has been generated, and good work has been disseminated. This year the conference takes place in Dundee, Scotland, from 6th to 10th September, and, in addition to the usual wide range of topics, has the special theme “Play is a Serious Business”. The theme eflects the development of the University of Abertay as a Centre of Excellence in Computer Games Education, and the cluster of industrial companies involved in all aspects of the Computer Games industry in Dundee. There will be opportunities for delegates to interact with games designers and developers, and their products, at the conference.

Zusammenfassung: "Paying Attention" concerns the politics, ethics and aesthetics of the attention economy. This is the social and technical milieu in which web native generations live much of their lives. It will address key questions like: What architectures of power are at work in the attention economy ? How is it building new structures of experience? What kinds of value does this architecture produce? "Paying Attention" encourages dialogue between researchers from the fields of Cultural and New Media Studies, Education, Communications, Economics, Internet studies, Human Computer Interface Studies, Art and Design. It also seeks the input and insights of creative practitioners exploring critical and alternative uses of new media forms and technologies.

Zusammenfassung: Ambient Intelligence is a concept envisioning information society in the future. In AmI, the attention is focused on four major aspects: User Friendliness, Effectiveness, Distributed support and Interactivity. AmI is based on utmost integration of information and communication technologies to the environment so that from the point of view of the user it is absolutely non-essential with what technologies he/she is interacting; with how many applications how many applications are in contact; how the applications are related and how the applications cooperate. In fact, the user might not be even aware that he/she is interacting with technology or applications at all.

Zusammenfassung: Audio in all its forms – music, sound effects, or dialogue - holds tremendous potential to engage, convey narrative, inform, dramatize and enthrall. However, in computer-based environments, for example games, nowadays the interaction abilities through and with sound are still underrepresented. The Audio Mostly Conference provides a venue to explore and promote this untapped potential of audio by bringing together audio experts, content creators, interaction designers, and behavioral researchers. Our area of interest covers new sound applications that demand or allow for some kind of interactive response from their listener, particularly in scenarios where screens and keyboards are unavailable, unsuitable or disturbing. This area implies cognitive research and psychology, as well as technological innovations in audio analysis, processing and rendering. The aim is to both describe and push the boundaries of sound-based interaction in various domains, such as gaming, serious gaming, education, entertainment, safety and healthcare.

Zusammenfassung: Academic MindTrek brings together a cross-disciplinary crowd of people in order to investigate current and emerging topics within media in the ubiquitous arena. Business, social, technical and content-related media topics will be discussed this year.

Zusammenfassung: Visual computing involves theory, methods and application of enhancing the visual space, along with human interaction, within the field of computing. One may visualize unstructured data, simple information structures, and more complicated structures such as automata, programs, and databases. Moreover, visual computing is a field that involves the representation or modeling of artifacts and their behaviors or executions. Thus, it is possible to visualize heaps, their execution or entire programs in which the heap plays an algorithmic role. The ways in which the human interacts with the heap through pure visualization, touch, or sound becomes a relevant issue. The concept of transformation is integral to visual computing, where it is often convenient to transform one type of object into another, sometimes for a specific group or individual. Aspects of visual computing are multi-facetted in goals that are to be achieved during information or language design. The following represents a short list of qualities that are of importance to the study within visual computing: efficiency, aesthetics, pleasure, emotion, engagement, immersion, collaboration, and culture. Aspects of art, engineering, and science play key roles where certain practitioners focus on design and engineering of visual interactions whereas others analyze and study these interactions (i.e., science).

Zusammenfassung: Selecting Extending boundaries as the theme of NordiCHI 2010, the organizers want to encourage contributors and participants to consider HCI’s boundaries, staying within them, or to think beyond them to address grand challenges.
