4.Hatfield MedChem Meeting — 23rd symposium on Medicinal Chemistry in Eastern England

Zusammenfassung	A highly successful, long-standing, one-day meeting which runs annually. Traditionally the meeting has been held at the Fielder Centre in Hatfield, but will be hosted at the Eisai site, also in Hatfield, for the first time this year. The symposium, known colloquially as the "Hatfield MedChem" meeting, will comprise nine presentations which will cover various aspects of drug discovery, including medicinal chemistry case studies and SBDD, as well as more general topics related to medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. The meeting is applicable to all those working in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery and will also include the Capps-Green-Zomaya award presentation and lecture. In addition the meeting offers excellent networking opportunities.

Zusammenfassung	The replication, maintenance and transcription of the genome require an array of protein machines including polymerases, helicases, translocases, nucleases, recombinases and topoisomerases, often functioning as components of multi-protein complexes. Machines on Genes II will bring together scientists with an interest in multi- and inter-disciplinary approaches for unravelling the anatomy, architecture and mechanisms of these remarkable molecular machines. The conference will cover topics in DNA replication, recombination, repair and transcription and will showcase the latest work of world leaders in the fields of structural biology, chemical biology and novel biophysical methods including single-molecule detection.
