ID
726204
Termin
29. Jun 2016 - 01. Jul 2016
Ort
Krakau, Polen
Zusammenfassung
Multidisciplinary landscape studies create a unique opportunity to trace cultural and environmental transformations and move us closer to understanding the distance that humanity have covered for the hundreds thousands years of its development. This is because the cultural “multi-layer structure” is an inherent feature of landscape, making it a kind of a palimpsest. We invite you to participate in the first CLC meeting, during which we will try to bring together the efforts of specialists representing numerous disciplines that investigate, interpret, or create landscapes. We will be talking about definitions and understanding of landscape-related issues among people from different cultural milieus, discuss the role of landscape studies in examining the human past, and analyse the contemporary perception of landscape and methods of its protection and transformation.

Data Intensive System Analysis for Geohazard Studies
ID
796006
Termin
18. Jul 2016 - 21. Jul 2016
Ort
Sochi, Rosa Khutor village, Russische Föderation
Zusammenfassung
The conference is the fifth one in a series of meetings previously held in Russia (Suzdal 2007, Pereslavl-Zalessky 2009, Uglich 2011, Kaluga 2013). This series is devoted to application of systems analysis to geophysical observations, data mining and geo-informatics. Hazardous natural phenomena, as well as some man-made hazards, can be detected by different techniques routinely used for monitoring the geophysical parameters. The upcoming conference in Sochi will focus on implementation of Systems Analysis embracing a sophisticated data analysis and holistic Earth science approach in order to get comprehensive information on the phenomena of different degrees of hazard and on the multi-scale extremes. We intend to discuss the topics related to observations, detection of and modeling geophysical extremes; development, implementation and maintenance of methods and instruments for monitoring; evolution of natural systems towards extreme conditions; assessment of global- and local-scale hazardous phenomena; challenges in data processing and analysis using pattern recognition, statistical and other methods relevant to large data processing; applications of geo-databases and GIS.

Conference on Enceladus and the Icy Moons of Saturn
ID
772796
Termin
26. Jul 2016 - 29. Jul 2016
Ort
Boulder, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung
The planetary community is invited to the first major international conference devoted specifically to Enceladus and the Mid-Sized Icy Satellites of Saturn. Through its array of instruments and global mapping opportunities, the Cassini mission has revolutionized our understanding of the Saturn system, and the surprisingly complex icy moons are no exception. The active jets of Enceladus are chief among the new discoveries. Others include color/thermal anomalies, equatorial ridges, satellite-derived rings, resurfacing and thermal relaxation, librations, and global fracture network surprises, to name just a few. The conference will be open to all scientific aspects of Enceladus and its neighboring moons. Topics include (but are not limited to) geology, geophysics, geochemistry and mineralogy, active jets and their properties and origins, formation and evolution, astrobiology, and future investigations of these bodies. Comparative planetology is encouraged! A major focus will be the new results from the 2015 Cassini encounters with Enceladus and the other icy moons. Contributions from Cassini, Voyager, and groundbased studies are welcome, as are suggestions for additional topics. The conference, in planning for almost two years, will feature invited speakers, contributed talks, and contributed posters; major reviews of key topics will also be presented. The conference will also lead to the production of a printed volume summarizing the findings of the conference, and encompassing the state of the art in our knowledge and wisdom concerning these amazing icy worlds.

ECSA 56 — Coastal systems in transition
ID

Termin
04. Sep 2016 - 07. Sep 2016
Ort
Bremen, Deutschland
Zusammenfassung
Welcome to ECSA’s next major symposium, ECSA 56 Coastal systems in transition: From a 'natural' to an 'anthropogenically-modified' state, which will take place from the 4-7 September 2016 in Bremen, Germany. Humans are drivers of and affected by global change. Human-induced global climate and regional environmental change dramatically modify the structures and functions of coastal systems driving them into a new system state. The altered resource potentials and ecosystem services then, in turn, significantly affect the livelihoods of the population. Distinguishing between natural and anthropogenic control factors and quantifying their impacts is a major challenge in the investigation of hydrodynamic, sedimentological, biogeochemical, ecological and socioeconomic processes in the coastal zone. Inter- and transdisciplinary efforts are required to gain a profound understanding of these "novel" systems, which provides the basis for a sustainable management. ECSA 56 brings together a global multi-disciplinary community of researchers and professionals to discuss and address issues of outstanding scientific importance in the science and management of estuaries and coastal seas in this rapidly changing world.

EAGE Workshop on Evaluation and Drilling of Carbonate Reservoirs
ID
761735
Termin
27. Nov 2016 - 30. Nov 2016
Ort
Muscat, Oman
Zusammenfassung
More than 60% of the world’s oil and 40% of the world’s gas reserves are held in carbonate reservoirs. Carbonates especially dominate fields in the Middle East with around 70% of oil and 90% of gas reserves found in these reservoirs. Carbonates accumulate predominately through the in situ growth and destruction of organisms, with transportation over relatively short distances. The nature of carbonate deposition, along with evolutionary changes in biota and primary mineralogy, results in the development of facies that can exhibit highly varying properties.

Beginn
01. Feb 2017
Ort
Pasadena, California, Vereinigte Staaten
Zusammenfassung
We happily invite the exoplanet community to the 21st International Microlensing Conference entitled "Ushering in the New Age of Microlensing from Space". The field of gravitational microlensing is burgeoning, in particular due to the success of several space-spaced missions. We will highlight breaking results from K2's Campaign 9 ( K2C9 ), which constitutes the first combined ground- and space-based microlensing survey, as well as progress in Spitzer's program of obtaining "satellite parallaxes." Talks on ground-based surveys and advances in theory will also be featured prominently. Finally, we will have a number of talks on the revolutionary promise of the WFIRST mission for exoplanet science, which was recently approved to enter Phase A. Together these endeavors provide invaluable insight into topics such as the Galactic distribution of exoplanets, the abundance of free-floating planets, and the demographics of cold exoplanets.

Zusammenfassung
Naturally fractured reservoirs contain a major part of the world’s remaining hydrocarbon reserves, but their successful characterisation and development remains very challenging. Difficulties when characterising naturally fractured reservoirs are encountered across the entire G&G domain and include, but are not limited to, developing conceptual models for fracture formation, using appropriate seismic attributes, obtaining 3D fracture statistics from well logs, selecting adequate outcrop analogues, or building representative models for the rock matrix.

ID

Termin
02. Okt 2017 - 06. Okt 2017
Ort

Zusammenfassung
The Aegean region and its environment are located in a complex geological belt in the eastern Mediterranean region that was shaped by almost the whole range of geological events, such as oceanic to continental subduction and collision followed by syn- to post-orogenic extension during the closure period of the Paleozoic to Mesozoic Tethys oceans. Therefore, the region preserves many records of several pulses of magmatic, sedimentary and metamorphic events together with economic mineral deposits and energy resources. With this complex framework, the region has become a geological laboratory to study, discuss and understand almost all of the geological processes and problems rising in an orogenic system.    In order to share and discuss the new findings and ideas, we are now organizing the seventh of the traditional "International Earth Science Colloquium on the Aegean Region", IESCA-2017 which will be held at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey (coastal city in the eastern Aegean Sea), 2-6 October 2017.
