Zusammenfassung: Game-based Learning (GBL) ist inzwischen ein eigenes Forschungsgebiet, das explizit auf die Kombination von Spielen und Lernen fokussiert. Der Workshop will dessen Potential aus technischer, didaktischer und gestalterischer Sicht ausloten.

Zusammenfassung: Through its successful sessions since 2004, the LASER summer school (Laboratory for Applied Software Engineering Research), organized by ETH Zurich, brings together the concepts and practice of software engineering in the idyllic setting of the Elba Island off the coast of Tuscany, easily reachable by air, car, bus or train. The LASER school is intended both for researchers (including PhD students) and for professional software engineers and managers who want to benefit from the best in software technology advances. The focus of LASER is resolutely applied, although theory is welcome to establish solid foundations. The format of the school favors extensive interaction between participants and speakers. The 2008 LASER school brings together six speakers, each having made major contributions to concurrency. Zusammenfassung: Call for Papers, Workshops and Tutorials Over the last ten years, the way in which education and training is delivered has changed considerably with the advent of new technologies. One such new technology that holds considerable promise for helping to engage learners is Games-Based Learning (GBL). The Conference offers an opportunity for scholars and practitioners interested in the issues related to GBL to share their thinking and research findings. Papers can cover various issues and aspects of GBL in education and training: technology and implementation issues associated with the development of GBL; use of mobile and MMOGs for learning; pedagogical issues associated with GBL; social and ethical issues in GBL; GBL best cases and practices, and other related aspects. We are particularly interested in empirical research that addresses whether GBL enhances learning.

Zusammenfassung: The 38th Annual Frontiers in Education (FIE) Conference is a major international conference devoted to improvements in computer science, engineering, and technology (CSET) education. FIE 2008 continues a long tradition of disseminating educational research results and innovative practices in CSET education. It is an ideal forum for sharing ideas, learning about developments in CSET education, and interacting with colleagues.

Zusammenfassung: Der IuK-Sektor zählt sowohl in seinen industriellen als auch dienstleistenden Sparten zu den forschungsintensivsten. Deutschland wird in den nächsten Jahren weiter in den IuK-Technologien investieren. In der IuK-Wirtschaft vereinigen sich sowohl technologische Spitzenprodukte mit hohen Anforderungen an das Innovationspotenzial als auch standardisierte Massenprodukte. Im internationalen Wettbewerb geht es hier ausschließlich um Preis- und Kostenvorteile. Dazu brauchen wir gut ausgebildete Ingenieure und müssen das vorhandene IuK-Potential mit anderen Technologiefeldern fusio-nieren.

Die 19. IWKM möchte mit ihrem Themenspektrum einen Beitrag zur Lösung dieser komplexen und disziplinübergreifenden Aufgabenstellung leisten. Während des Zusammentreffens von Praxispartnern, Interessenten und Hochschullehrern inner-halb der Konferenz, sollen die interdisziplinären Forschungsfelder weiter vorange-trieben und neue Impulse erzeugt werden.

Das breitgefächerte Angebot unserer Konferenz umfasst u.a. Industriesteuerung, Kommunikationstechnik, Embedded Systems als auch E-Learning.

Zusammenfassung: Call for Papers, Workshops and Tutorials Over the last ten years, the way in which education is delivered has changed considerably with the advent of new technologies. e-Learning is one such development, so much so that it is now regarded as a field in it’s own right. This, the 7th European Conference on e-Learning (ECEL 2008); offers an opportunity for those involved in the study, implementation and delivery of e-learning to meet and exchange ideas and experiences. The conference, to be held in November 2008, invites qualitative, experience-based and quantitative papers, case studies and reports of work in progress on both the theory and practice of all aspects of web-enabled technology in learning and teaching. Submissions are welcomed from academics, teachers, practitioners, vendors and government departments.

The ATCM 2008 is an international conference held in Thailand that will continue addressing technology-based issues in all Mathematical Sciences. Thanks to advanced technological tools such as computer algebra systems (CAS), interactive and dynamic geometry, and hand-held devices, the effectiveness of our teaching and learning, and the horizon of our research in mathematics and its applications continue to grow rapidly. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for educators, researchers, teachers and experts in exchanging information regarding enhancing technology to enrich mathematics learning, teaching and research at all levels. English is the official language of the conference. There will be over 300 participants coming from over 26 countries around the world. Be sure to submit your abstracts or full papers in time.

Zusammenfassung: The e-CASE conference has become a major international event for researchers, academics, industry specialists, practitioners, and graduate students interested in the advances in, and applications of, e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, and e-Education. Zusammenfassung: The Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) third annual Educational Technology Research Symposium will be February 3, 2009, in Austin Texas. The event will provide a venue for educational technology researchers to present formal papers in all areas of educational technology. The registration fee for the Symposium also will entitle Symposium registrants to attend the TCEA Annual Convention and Exposition, Accelerate Technology, February 2-6, 2009.
