DHI has developed a strong and successful tradition for regional Software Conferences: Bangkok and Orlando in 2002, Sydney, Prague and San Francisco in 2003, St. Pete Beach and Kuala Lumpur in 2005, Shanghai in 2006 and Auckland in March 2008.

'Water Across Europe” will be the 10th regional MIKE Software Conference! We have chosen the beautiful and historic city of Dubrovnik – the pearl of intereuropean atmosphere – as the location to celebrate this important milestone in our strong tradition of regional conferences!

Zusammenfassung: Passive remote sensing techniques have a meaningful and challenging role in addressing the measurement needs of several research and operational programs (defense purposes, environmental monitoring …). The need to rapidly respond to these new surveillance and security challenges requires advanced software architectures allowing easier cost-effective enhancements of existing software applications.

The workshop will be concerned by all passive systems (underwater, surface and near-surface systems) from signal interpretation to processing algorithms to system conception.

Zusammenfassung: Parallel Computing (PC) is a subject discussed in the context of high performance computing (HPC). The goal of HPC is to find faster solutions to larger and more complex problems. This area is a highly interdisciplinary area ranging from numerical analysis and algorithm design to programming languages, computer architectures, software and real applications. The participants include engineers, computer scientists, applied mathematicians, physicists, and many others. This concentrates on well developed and more research oriented parallel algorithms in science and engineering that have traditionally relied on high performance computing.

PC operates on the principle that large problems can often be divided into smaller ones, which are then solved concurrently.

There are several different forms of parallel computing:

1. Bit-level parallelism
2. Instruction-level parallelism
3. Data parallelism
4. Task parallelism

Zusammenfassung: Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI) is a multidisciplinary science encompassing methodologies, models, algorithms, and advanced tools for intelligence analysis, homeland security, terrorism research as well as security-related public policies. EuroISI 2008 is the first European edition of the series of ISI symposiums being held annually in the US since 2003 and more recently in Asia. These meetings gather together people from previously disparate communities to provide a stimulating forum for exchange of ideas and results.
