Zusammenfassung: In the past decade has seen massive progress in the observational evidence for the interconnection between gas cooling and re-heating in cluster cores, particularly in the X-ray, mid-infrared and sub-mm regimes. We would like to take the opportunity just before the launch of Herschel, ESAs new far-infrared space observatory, to take stock of the latest observational and theoretical work on cooling flows. With new facilities such as ALMA and SOFIA also beginning operations, we see the workshop as an opportunity to stimulate the best proposals and collaborations to exploit these new opportunities.

Zusammenfassung: You are invited for the 5-day workshop in order to continue the development and discuss the future of MUSE - a Multi-scale Multi-physics Software Environment. The purpose of MUSE is to realistically model dense stellar systems such as young star clusters and galactic nuclei (see http://muse.li). Important steps had been taken over the last two years at previous workshops, most recently in Split, Croatia, in August 2007, where we accomplished to complete a working interface to connect a complete set of base codes. During this next meeting we plan to demonstrate the capabilities of MUSE by simulating a star cluster including stellar dynamics, stellar evolution as well as stellar collisions.

Zusammenfassung: A major development in astronomy in the last decade has been the advent of new observing facilities and large surveys at all wavelengths of the spectrum, enabling astronomers for the first time to observe the full spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of galaxies at wavelengths from the X-rays to the radio. At the same time, astronomers have created models and tools in order to extract the complex information imprinted in the SEDs. Also, useful semi-analytic models of galaxy formation have appeared that provide realistic predictions for the properties of galaxies as they would be formed in the current cosmological standard model.
