Zusammenfassung: On the occasion of Laci Babai's approaching 60th birthday we are holding a conference with the title "Combinatorics, Groups, Algorithms, and Complexity" at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. The date of the meeting is March 21-25, 2010 (Sunday-Thursday), with an opening social event Saturday evening (March 20).

The talks will highlight interconnections between the areas in the title. It is our hope that the conference will inspire new links and further cross-fertilization.

Zusammenfassung: This workshop, sponsored by AIM and the NSF, will be devoted to facilitating the development of new decomposition methods and to provide fundamentally new insights into both tensor decompositions and numerical optimization.

Zusammenfassung: The goal of the Workshop is to create a multidisciplinary round table for an open discussion on modeling nature by using traditional and emerging computational paradigms. Mathematics and natural sciences offer discrete and continuous models to describe space, processes, and events occurring in nature. Very often both approaches use notions of infinite and infinitesimal in order to create coherent models. It is assumed that it is possible to work with infinitesimal quantities and/or to execute an infinite number of steps in algorithms. However, our abilities in computing are limited and only a finite number of computational steps can be executed by humans and machines.

The Workshop will discuss all aspects of the usage of infinity and infinitesimals in mathematics, computing, philosophy, and natural sciences. Fundamental ideas from theoretical computer science, logic, set theory, and philosophy will meet requirements and new fresh applications from physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, and economy. Researchers from both theoretical and applied sciences are very welcome to submit their papers and to use this excellent possibility to exchange ideas with leading scientists from different research fields.

Zusammenfassung: The Conference focuses on various aspects of mathematical modelling and usage of finite difference and finite element methods for numerical solution of modern problems of science and engineering. It aims, in particular, at fostering a cooperation among practitioners and theoreticians in this field. Another very important goal of the MMA meetings is to assist in the creation and maintenance of contacts between scientists from the West and the East.

Zusammenfassung: Stochastic models and methods are widely used in a broad range of scientific domains including mathematics and computer science, engineering, economics, natural and life sciences, where the complexity of many relevant problems often renders purely analytical treatment impossible and calls for efficient computational solution approaches.

Such approaches are usually spread over conferences focused on the application domain rather than the stochastic nature of models or solution approaches. But similar challenges occur in different fields such that their computational solution is often more important than the underlying real world system. However, too many researchers hardly mutually notice each others' progress though actually working on the same topic. It is highly desirable to bring them together under the common umbrella of computational stochastics in order to present recent results, exchange knowledge, discuss open problems and new directions.

This workshop is intended to provide a joint interdisciplinary forum for researchers applying probability and statistics in different scientific domains. The goal is to establish a meeting where stochastic models and methods are the common objective and the focus is on computational or algorithmic approaches.

Zusammenfassung: These 'Jornadas' on Discrete Mathematics bring together, every two years, researchers related to both theoretical and applied discrete mathematics. Although their scope was originally Spanish, more and more European and international researchers are coming to recent editions.

Zusammenfassung: The S3CM: Soria Summer School on Computational Mathematics is a series of annual international school mostly intended for Master, PhD students and Postdocs working on computationalmathematics. This year the meeting will be devoted to the topic "Algebraic Geometric Modelling in Information Theory" It will take place in the Campus of Soria of the Universidad de Valladolid and hosted by SINGACOM reseach group.

The AGMINT aim is to fill in the gap between the theoretical part of algebraic geometry and the applications to problem solving and computational modelling in engineering in signal processing and information theory which involve non trivial knowledgement of algebra and geometry. The students of this IP will receive both theoretical and practical formation in those topics and as it is traditional on the S3CM schools also in the software needed for dealing with those modelling problems.

Zusammenfassung: The Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) workshop series brings together the integer optimization research community in an annual meeting, to discuss very recent developments in the field. It consists of a single track of invited talks, which are scheduled to leave ample time for discussion and interaction among the participants.

Zusammenfassung: A celebration of the long and illustrious careers of Victor Klee and Branko Grunbaum and their fundamental contributions to discrete mathematics and geometry. There will be 18 invited talks, a poster session and an open problems session. Details available at the above website.

Zusammenfassung: The main objective of this workshop is to have timely reviews and discussions of recent results and current issues in (1) the mathematical foundations of integral-equation methods and associated fast algorithms, (2) implementations and performance assessments of such methods on a variety of computer architectures, and (3) existing and new application areas. A plethora of computational techniques already exists, and includes tree-codes, pre-corrected fast Fourier transforms, Ewald procedures, and the many classes of fast multipole methods. This workshop will help clarify the relative advantages of existing schemes, and elucidate the trajectories and applications of many methods now under development.

Zusammenfassung: The ODSA 2010 conference, to be held at the University of Rostock, continues the ODSA series following previous conferences in 1997, 2000 and 2006. The conference aims at the interactions between several aspects of Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Optimization, Theoretical Computer Science, and their applications. In particular, the scope of the conference includes combinatorial optimization and algorithms on discrete structures, extremal problems in posets, design theory, coding theory, and graph theory.

Zusammenfassung: This congress is the third in the series, where the first meeting was held in Beijing in 2002 and the previous one in Castro Urdiales, Spain in 2006; see http://www.icms2006.unican.es/ . We will welcome developers of mathematical software systems as well as researchers in algorithms and mathematicians who are interested in the development of mathematical software and systems. This is an almost unique chance to meet people in different disciplines in mathematics and computer science and exchange ideas on developments on mathematical software and systems. While the main audience of this meeting is assumed to be developers of mathematical software and software systems, we welcome the participation of mathematicians and scientists who are interested in using mathematical software for their research. The proceedings of the congress is planned and all accepted papers and short communications will be published as Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).

Zusammenfassung: Parametric optimization is a part of mathematical programming and has emerged as an exciting research area in theory, numerics and applications. It investigates the properties of solutions to optimization problems under data perturbations or uncertainty. Many relations to other disciplines of operations research, like stochastic programming, complementarity problems, mixed-integer problems, model-building, numerical methods, multi-objective optimization and optimal control, originate from these properties. paraoptX welcomes papers as well as proposals for special sessions on any area in parametric optimization or related topics. We hope that the conference will continue to help link researchers and practitioners from different areas of mathematical programming from around the world.

Research and development in linear algebra include theoretical studies, algorithmic designs and implementations on advanced computer architectures, and applications to various disciplines. The SIAM Conferences on Applied Linear Algebra, organized by SIAM every three years, are the premier international conferences on applied linear algebra, which bring together diverse researchers and practitioners from academia, research laboratories, and industries all over the world to present and discuss their latest work and results on applied linear algebra.
