The upcoming Optica Industry Summit, hosted at SUSS MicroOptics in Neuchatel, marks the inaugural meeting of the Global MicroOptics Alliance, a pivotal moment in photonics manufacturing. Applied Quantum Technologies and Innovation

OECC 2024 will be an exciting 5-day celebration of research advancements, innovative solutions, and technological breakthroughs. OECC2024 will present plenaries from eminent experts, invited speakers, contributed presentations, special symposia and exhibition to demonstrate breakthroughs and innovations poised to transform the future of opto-electronics and optical communications industry and sectors that rely on this industry. This year we are even more excited to announce the introduction of a new track, the “Quantum Sensing, Communications and Computing” track recognising the recent attention on these emerging technologies, and we look forward to extending the warm OECC2024 experience to a new group of attendees.

The 21st International Conference on Quantum Physics and Logic (QPL 2024) will take place from July 15th to 19th, 2024, at the Instituto de Ciencias de la Computación in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Quantum Physics and Logic is an annual conference that brings together academic and industry researchers working on the mathematical foundations of quantum computation, quantum physics, and related areas. The main focus is on the use of algebraic and categorical structures, formal languages, type systems, semantic methods, as well as other mathematical and computer scientific techniques applicable to the study of physical systems, physical processes, and their composition. Work applying quantum-inspired techniques and structures to other fields, such as linguistics, artificial intelligence, and causality, is also welcome.

The Optica Sensing Congress provides the forum to facilitate reporting the latest optical-based sensor advances, brings together major sensor developers and users and provides a showcase for the latest sensor prototypes and products.

Applied Industrial Spectroscopy (AIS) explores the use of spectroscopy and spectral sensing to provide actionable information to industry. AIS is focused on optics and photonic solutions to current industrial challenges like climate change, environmental pollution, food safety and quality, precision farming, wastewater analysis and public health. Spectroscopic tools integral to solving these challenges include both established methods such as Raman, LIBS, FTIR, THz spectroscopy, UV-VIS-NIR-IR spectroscopy, and lidar as well as new, cutting-edge technologies in transition from development to industry. Research into the advancement of these tools in industrial settings is encouraged, including the bringing of new spectroscopic tools to market. The fusion of multiple methods with machine learning and advanced calibration methods is also of interest.

Because of the breadth of applications for optical sensors, the challenges to the design and functioning of an optical sensor for a particular purpose requires intimate knowledge of optical, material and environmental properties that affect sensor performance across physical scales. Sensors addresses all aspects of optical sensors from source and detection technologies, sensor configurations and processing approaches to applications. The meeting is arranged in broad topic categories and themes accessible to researchers at any career stage. Beyond the topic categories, the meeting explores the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). Contributed talks in this area of research are welcomed.

OPTICA

Addresses all aspects of optical techniques and instrumentation for chemical, security and environmental analysis. LACSEA covers diagnostics of combustion and industrial process gases, atmospheric sensing and monitoring and the analysis of gases that may contain chemical or biological agents. Sensing of liquids (e.g., aerosols) and solids (e.g., particulates or explosives) is also discussed.

This year’s seminar will focus on timely themes in many-body quantum science ranging from quantum computation, to quantum simulations and studies of synthetic quantum matter, to quantum sensing and metrology. The seminar will address the latest advances in these dynamical research fields and touch upon a diversity of topics, including dynamics of quantum systems out-of-equilibrium, recent developments in quantum information processing, progress towards fault-tolerant computation and emerging quantum science platforms.

Quantum information science has made remarkable strides, with transformational breakthroughs in even the last five years. Quantum computers are becoming increasingly powerful, and companies and researchers are exploring their potential for solving complex problems, having now demonstrated first results that go beyond the capabilities of classical simulators. Despite these advances, critical challenges remain between present capabilities and transformative, fault-tolerant quantum computing: development of error correction codes to mitigate the effects of decoherence; development of scalable hardware architectures; and even discovery of algorithms that efficiently leverage quantum advantage. Furthermore, establishing practical quantum networks requires further exploration. This GRC aims to convene experienced and early-career researchers from both academic and industrial backgrounds, fostering discussions, idea exchange, and the juxtaposition of theoretical advancements with experimental achievements.

The European Optical Society Annual Meeting, EOSAM, is a major international scientific conference and exhibition covering all aspects of optics and photonics. EOSAM 2024 is organized by The European Optical Society, EOS, in close collaboration with the Italian Society for Optics and Photonics, SIOF, the Italian branch of EOS. EOSAM covers all aspects of optics and photonics within several topical meetings and sessions. It is attended annually by over 500 top researchers, key leaders, students, and industry experts from over 30 different countries all over the world. EOSAM is a great platform for presenting the most recent research results, connecting and catching up, as well as bridging the gap between research, education, and industry. Each year EOSAM moves into different optics and photonics hubs better serving the local communities and at each time creating a unique EOSAM experience for the attendees. Since 2008, OPSS has been promoting Optics and Photonics in Singapore through interaction between academia and industry, and actively participating in regional conferences and exhibitions. In recent years, OPSS has spearheaded the establishment of societies in various ASEAN countries, creating a dynamic community in the field. The International Conference on Optical and Photonic Engineering (icOPEN) stands as a testament to our commitment to this field.
