Zusammenfassung: Since their inception, operations research/management science tools have helped solve problems in many industries, yet OR/MS has much more to offer society in its efforts to sustain economic growth while using resources efficiently. There are always new challenges for using OR/MS techniques in non-traditional domains.

At ALIO-INFORMS 2010, attendees will exchange ideas on topics such as services, logistics and transportation, manufacturing, supply chain management, environment, natural resources, biotechnology, and healthcare. The meeting intends also to emphasize the importance of the relationship between basic research and the practice of OR/MS.

Zusammenfassung: This large conference welcomes all researchers, academicians, practitioners, as well as students interested in any branch of operational research, mathematical modelling or economic analysis.

Zusammenfassung: We invite researchers in the fields of operations management, production management, supply chain management, operations research or industrial engineering, as well as practitioners (executive managers as well as consultants) with any connection to either manufacturing or service operations, and PhD students to participate at the conference and to present their papers.

Zusammenfassung: Hosted by the Aston Centre for Research into Safety and Security (CRISIS), the International Conference on Emergency Preparedness (InterCEPt) aims to facilitate the exchange of academic research, innovations and best operational practices in the management of emergency preparedness. InterCEPt provides a unique opportunity for academics, practitioners and policy makers to share lessons, plans, approaches and methods to prepare governments for when disaster strikes, as well as to identify promising new approaches to prepare the public to respond to major incidents.

The theme of this year’s conference is mass evacuation i.e. the displacement of thousands/millions of people in response to a major catastrophic incident. Mass evacuation presents some unusual challenges for emergency preparedness, for example, the coordination, transportation and sheltering of thousands of people. The conference will deal will all the aspects related to mass evacuation, from mitigation to preparedness, response and recovery.
