| 2. | [ID=317042]RMMC 2010: Conservation Laws and Applications | | 22. Jun 2010 → 02. Jul 2010; University of Wyoming, Laramie, Vereinigte Staaten | | Zusammenfassung: Conservation Laws (or balance laws) are systems of partial differential equations which arise naturally as models for a variety of physical phenomena (e.g., fluid dynamics, magneto-hydrodynamics, combustion, oil recovery, and nonlinear elasticity). The primary focus of this summer program will be on recent developments in our understanding of such equations. Beginning with a rapid tutorial phase, the aim of the program will be to expose participants to current areas of active research and to help prepare them to pursue open problems in the field. The program will touch on both theoretical and computational aspects of conservation laws, and application areas (old and new) in which conservation laws play a central role will be highlighted. | | Webseite: http://math.uwyo.edu/rmmc/2010 | | Verwandte Fachgebiete: Mathematische Physik |
| 3. | [ID=328165]RTG Summer School on Inverse Problems & Partial Differential Equations | | 28. Jun 2010 → 16. Jul 2010; University of Washington, Seattle, Vereinigte Staaten | | Zusammenfassung: The Research Training Group in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Washington will host a summer school for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students on Inverse Problems & Partial Differential Equations. Students will attend lectures in the morning and problem sessions in small groups with mentors in the afternoon. | | Webseite: http://www.math.washington.edu/ipde | | | | 4. | [ID=218375]MSRI program — Inverse Problems and Applications | | 16. Aug 2010 → 17. Dez 2010; Berkeley, Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten | | Veranstalter: Mathematical Sciences Research Institute | | Zusammenfassung: Inverse Problems are problems where causes for a desired or an observed effect are to be determined. They lie at the heart of scientific inquiry and technological development. Applications include a number of medical as well as other imaging techniques, location of oil and mineral deposits in the earth's substructure, creation of astrophysical images from telescope data, finding cracks and interfaces within materials, shape optimization, model identification in growth processes and, more recently, modelling in the life sciences. During the last 10 yeas or so there has been significant developments both in the mathematical theory and applications of inverse problems. The purpose of the program would be to bring together people working on different aspects of the field, to appraise the current status of development and to encourage interaction between mathematicians and scientists and engineers working directly with the applications. | | Webseite: http://www.msri.org/calendar/index_activities | | Verwandte Fachgebiete: Analysis; Mathematische Physik | | | | 5. | [ID=317117]Conference on Symmetry, Separation, Super-integrability and Special Functions | | 17. Sep 2010 → 19. Sep 2010; School of Mathematics, University of Minnesota, Mi, Vereinigte Staaten | | Zusammenfassung: This conference is in honor of Willard Miller, Jr., who will be retiring from the University of Minnesota. Topics will include symmetry methods for differential equations, higher symmetries, separation and multi-separation of variables, special functions and orthogonal polynomials, Hamiltonian systems, both classical and quantum, super-integrability and its connections with separability and quasi-exact solvability, and applications to physical systems arising in classical and quantum mechanics and relativity. | | Webseite: http://www.math.umn.edu/conferences/s4/ | | Verwandte Fachgebiete: Analysis | | | | 6. | [ID=328227]IMA Workshop: Numerical Solutions of Partial Differential Equations: Novel Discretization Techniques | | 01. Nov 2010 → 05. Nov 2010; Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IM, Vereinigte Staaten | | Zusammenfassung: This workshop will survey novel discretization techniques in numerical partial differential equations that address the computational challenges posed by higher dimensions, higher orders, complex spaces, complex geometries, nonlinearities and multiscales. The focus is on new and fundamental methodologies that impact diverse areas of numerical partial differential equations. | | Webseite: http://www.ima.umn.edu/2010-2011/W11.1-5.10/ | | Verwandte Fachgebiete: Angewandte Mathematik: Numerische Analysis und Algebra | | | | 7. | [ID=328115]IMA Workshop — Numerical Solutions of Partial Differential Equations: Fast Solution Techniques | | 29. Nov 2010 → 03. Dez 2010; Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IM, Vereinigte Staaten | | Zusammenfassung: The amount of time required to solve the large scale problems arising from numerical partial differential equations is a major concern in using mathematical models based on partial differential equations. Various fast solution techniques, such as adaptive methods, domain decomposition methods and multilevel methods, have been developed to address this issue. This workshop will survey new developments and challenges in these and other fast solution techniques. | | Webseite: http://www.ima.umn.edu/2010-2011/W11.29-12-3.10/ | | | | 8. | [ID=218385]MSRI program — Free Boundary Problems, Theory and Applcations | | 10. Jan 2011 → 20. Mai 2011; Berkeley, Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten | | Veranstalter: Mathematical Sciences Research Institute | | Zusammenfassung: This program aims at the study of various topics within the area of Free Boundaries Problems, from the viewpoints of theory and applications. Many problems in physics, industry, finance, biology, and other areas can be described by partial differential equations that exhibit apriori unknown sets, such as interfaces, moving boundaries, shocks, etc. The study of such sets, also known as free boundaries, often occupies a central position in such problems. The aim of this program is to gather experts in the field with knowledge of various applied and theoretical aspects of free boundary problems. | | Webseite: http://www.msri.org/calendar/index_activities | | Verwandte Fachgebiete: Mathematische Physik | | | | 9. | [ID=328430]DS11 — SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems | | 22.
