	Zusammenfassung: This conference brings together scientists and technology users who are investigating or developing materials for optical applications. The conference will present the state of the art in preparation methods, optical characterization and practical use of optical materials and devices in various photonic fields. Conference sessions will be focused on hot topic such as for example Photovoltaic Materials and Biophotonics. The Workshop on low dimensional structures and materials will be held as a satellite meeting on ICOM2009 and will cover the advanced topics and subjects in the areas of bottom-up approaches to nanostructured materials.
	Themen: Materials synthesis, nanomaterials, ceramics and crystal growth; Disordered and amorphous materials; Hybrid optical materials(organic/inorganic); Characterization techniques of optical materials; Physical properties of optical materials; Luminescence mechanisms and energy transfers; Control of impurities, defects, traps; Theory and modeling; Novel concepts: methods, phenomena and materials (with a particular attention on materials for photovoltaic and for biophotonics); Optical functional materials and their applications (lighting, displays, biophotonics, photovoltaic …); Photothermal and photoacoustic spectroscopy and phenomena; Satellite meeting on low dimensional structures and materials
