Résumé: Space has proven to be the silent backbone underpinning our commercial, civil, and military sectors. Three of the top issues in the upcoming election—economic competitiveness, the global war on terror, and the need for increased global climate change monitoring—are all dependent on our technological and operational achievements in space. The AIAA SPACE 2008 Conference & Exposition will reflect on these issues and more, while providing direction for future actions.

This event will be attended by leaders from all elements of the space community, including key government and business decision makers, providing an unparalleled forum for exchange and dialogue. Topics of discussion will include:

Résumé: For over twenty years, the biennial AIAA/ISSMO Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MA&O) Conference has brought together industry practitioners, government employees, and academics to present and discuss the latest developments in multidisciplinary design, analysis, and optimization. Multidisciplinary analysis and optimization is rapidly becoming a standard element of contemporary design methodologies. With significant advances in computing algorithms and power, impressive analysis and optimization applications have been successfully carried out in industry, government, and academia alike. Additionally, theoretical developments ranging from new optimization algorithms to approaches for design system robustness and reliability have played a significant role in the ever-growing acceptance of multidisciplinary design and optimization. Résumé: AIAA will be the hosting organization for the ICAS 2008 Congress in Anchorage and has decided that the 8th AIAA Aviation Technology, Integration, and Operations Conference (ATIO) will be fully integrated with ICAS 2008. This will bring together researchers, designers, analysts, manufacturers, integrators, and operators in a diverse program intended to foster the exchange of ideas and to spark dialogue on how to enhance aviation and the aviation system of today while preparing for the needs and issues of tomorrow. Participants will explore new systems analysis methodologies, discuss new aircraft designs and manufacturing techniques, and identify potential ways in which the community can address the challenges it now faces in security, economics, and the environment.

Résumé: * Present the latest results and status of research and development projects (including AO and cat-1). * Review capabilities and achievements in the use of MERIS and (A)ATSR data for applications development in the land, marine and atmosphere domains. * Update MERIS and (A)ATSR data users on instrument performance and product quality. * Formulate recommendations for improved data access and utilization, including ordering and analysis tools, algorithms and new product development. * Foster enhanced collaboration between MERIS and (A)ATSR research groups * Inform users on the current status of the GMES Sentinel 2 and 3 payloads.

Résumé: The Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) is the national body combining the professional disciplines of surveying, mapping, engineering & mining surveying, remote sensing & photogrammetry and spatial information. The national structure takes advantage of economies of scale and standardised administrative procedures. Service delivery, however, especially CPD, remains at the regional level to ensure the needs of members are best understood and met.

Résumé: The focus of this workshop will be to review the most recent developments in turbomachinery broadband noise. It will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest techniques for both the prediction and measurement of broadband turbomachinery noise and provide scientists and engineers from industry, research establishments and universities with the opportunity to present new results, exchange ideas and discuss directions of future research.

Résumé: The annual meetings of the Lunar Exploration Analysis Group (LEAG), International Lunar Conference 2008, the 10th ILEWG Conference on Exploration and Utilization, and the Space Resources Roundtable (SRR) will be combined and held October 28–31, 2008, at the Radisson Resort at the Port, in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The meeting is planned to coincide with the October 28, 2008, launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO: including the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite – LCROSS) from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The LRO mission objectives are to advance the Vision for Space Exploration by using high-resolution mapping, including topography, and confirming the presence or absence of water ice in a permanently shadowed crater at either the Moon’s North or South Pole.

The Call for Papers linked to ISU website at http://www.isunet.edu describes the overall scope and the suggested content of the six half-day sessions which are entitled: (1) International Goals and Perspectives on Security, (2) Civil Security, (3) Homeland and National Security, (4) Military Space and Dual Use, (5) Space Assets and the Space Environment, (6) Making Earth Safer and More Secure. Résumé: SPESIF - 2009 is a international technical forum organized by the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Space, Propulsion & Energy Sciences (IASSPES)* as part of their mission to:

Integrate the sciences toward rapid advancements in basic research that will lead to new developments in the SPACE, PROPULSION, and ENERGY sciences toward new earth and space uses with a eye on their applications for the exploration of space beyond present day visions,
