 Dates 14 Aou 2013 → 16 Aou 2013
[ID=523012] Haut de la page
 LieuBlacksburg, VA, États-Unis
 Résumé Over the last two decades, the traditional reductionist approach to biology has increasingly been displaced by an interdisciplinary systems-level approach which can disentangle the complex biological networks that have previously seemed impenetrable. Computational modeling integrated with experimental results has played and will continue to play a pivotal role in this transition, and we believe it is essential for modern researchers in cell biology to understand, embrace, and develop hybrid computational-experimental strategies. To this end, we are proud to announce the International Conference on Computational Cell Biology: From the Past to the Future at Virginia Tech. This conference has been designed to highlight the interplay between cutting-edge biomathematical approaches and experimental techniques to complex biological problems, identify future directions in the field of computational cell biology, and provide a rare opportunity for young researchers to interact with some leading scientists.

[ID=554218] Haut de la page
 LieuProvidence, États-Unis
 Résumé As prices continue to drop and technology continues to improve, the purchase of a next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform is now a reality for most research laboratories. Once you have purchased a platform, however, how do you maximize the greatest potential for your investment? Realizing this potential requires efficient workflow strategies, careful experimental design, comprehensive targeted enrichment technologies, data analysis, management, and integration, in addition to maintaining your platform and people management all at maximum production. The central theme at Cambridge Healthtech Institute's Sequencing Strategies for Success is efficient utilization of your NGS platform. Sessions will focus on common bottlenecks, case studies, real-world experiences and solutions from experienced NGS users.

16.Inaugural Single-Cell Sequencing
 Dates 20 Aou 2013 → 21 Aou 2013
[ID=554195] Haut de la page
 LieuProvidence, États-Unis
 Résumé Over the past decade, NGS technologies have moved at a rapid pace, dramatically reducing costs, and making genome sequencing more routine. What was once unthinkable is now possible. However, most genomes are still sequenced from DNA extracted from multiple cells, which misses differences between cells that could be crucial in controlling gene expression, cell behavior, and drug response. Still, challenges for single-cell sequencing remain, including cell isolation, DNA amplification, and bioinformatics. As the techniques are being refined, subtle differences between cells, such as the tiny genomic rearrangements, will emerge. CHI's Single-Cell Sequencing conference focuses on the links between cell variation in tissues and organ function and further elucidates the origins of diseases.

17.6th Annual Sequencing Data Analysis and Interpretation
 Dates 20 Aou 2013 → 21 Aou 2013
[ID=554172] Haut de la page
 LieuProvidence, États-Unis
 Résumé Sequencing a genome is only the beginning. Several layers of analysis are necessary to convert raw sequence data into an understanding of functional biology. First, error sources in the original raw data from multiple platforms and diverse applications must be accounted for. Then, as computational methods for assembly, alignment, and variation detection continue to advance, a broad range of genetic analysis applications including comparative genomics, high-throughput polymorphism detection, analysis of coding and non-coding RNAs, and identifying mutant genes in disease pathways can be addressed. CHI's Sequencing Data Analysis and Interpretation conference combines unique perspectives from a variety of researchers, engineers, biostatisticians, and software developers involved in NGS data analysis.

 Dates 24 Mar 2014 → 17 Avr 2014
[ID=553617] Haut de la page
 LieuIsaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, , Royaume-Uni
 Résumé Metagenomics is the study of the total genomic content of microbial communities. DNA material is sampled collectively from the microorganisms that populate the environment of interest. The extracted DNA sequences are then used to profile the environment and its biodiversity, its dominant microbial classes or biological functions, and whether and how this profile differs from those of other environments. This research programme will bring together leading expertise in the multiple disciplines involved, including mathematics, computer science, probability and statistics, biomedical research and biology. The brief of the programme will be to explore the major current analytical and computational open problems in metagenomics, and to identify opportunities for application and development of theory and methods, with an emphasis on synergy between disciplines. Several workshops will take place during the programme. For full details please see: http://www.newton.ac.uk/events.html .
