Résumé: Ce colloque international est la 3ème conférence conjointe de la conférence MPD « Mathematical Population Dynamics » et de la conférence DeStoBio « Deterministic and Stochastic Models for Biological Interaction ». Ses objectifs sont de favoriser les mathématiques appliquées aux sciences du vivant; promouvoir et inscrire la discipline dans la société ; favoriser l'intégration des biomathématiciens dans la communauté scientifique.

Résumé: This meeting is the fourth edition of a series devoted to Mathematical and Numerical Modelling of Physiological Flows. Former editions took place in Lausanne (2003), Lisbon (2005), Bergamo (2006). The focus of this fourth symposium will be on vascular and cardiac flow, with emphasis on cardiac mechanics, fluid-wall interactions, drug release from stents, electrical signalling. The wonderful location of Chia will ensure a stimulating environment for scientific collaboration.

Résumé: Computational and mathematical modelling of biological systems is now commonplace and indeed essential to many projects. A particular problem faced by modellers is that of choosing the most appropriate scale, or level of abstraction, for their model, especially given that there may be different important features at each scale. For example, in an epidemiological model, we might wish to describe the way in which individuals interact. Alternatively, we might be more interested in the analysis of population level features, making ordinary differential equations more appropriate. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers working on techniques which allow exploration of models spanning a range of scales, especially those in which the different scales are rigorously related. At Stirling, we are interested in modelling techniques such as Process Algebra that allow large scale properties to emerge from small scale behaviour. We would welcome contributions using other techniques. We also particularly welcome biologists interested in how this sort of modelling across scales can help them understand their system.

Résumé: The MRC Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre is a unique interdisciplinary environment in which to attend this introduction into the technical and conceptual aspects of behavioural genomics.

Résumé: The current generation of high-throughput genetic and genomic platforms, has had a great impact on biomedical research, and given new impetus to studies of molecular mechanisms of genetic disease, and to systems biology. The next big technological step forward is the advent of cheap, fast, sequencing platforms that will allow near-complete genome sequences to be quickly and affordably obtained from individual members of any species. Individual genomes from humans, their pathogens and model organisms will have an enormous impact on population genetics and evolutionary theory, as well as on epidemiology, particularly our understanding of infectious disease. We plan to discuss the most pressing open problems and the most promising avenues of future research necessary to deliver the full benefits of genome resequencing.

Résumé: The International Study Group for Systems Biology is a collective of international researchers interested in advancing the biological sciences through exploring the interplay between theory and experiment. The general theme of the meeting is theoretical approaches to understanding the behaviour of cell systems, particularly transport, metabolism and signal transduction.

Résumé: The objective of the DIEBM2010 Workshop is to bring together established scientists and postgraduate students working on aspects of Mathematical Biology, Numerical Analysis and Computing, Biology and Medicine where Differential and Integral equations apply and to report on current research and future developments. Themes/Topics: Numerical/Computationa/theoretical aspects of Differential and Integral Equations, and their applications in Biology and Medicine. Application topics include (and not restricted to): Cell Biology (eg. cell population, cell motility and molecular motor models); Epidemiology (eg. early childhood diseases models (measles, rubella, etc.); Various diseases models (eg. diabetes models, cancer, tuberculosis and influenza models, blood production and flow models). Also models associated with functions of various parts of the human body like the heart, kidneys, the pancreas, the eyes, the gastro-intestinal system, to mention a few.

Résumé: ECCB10 is the key European computational biology event in 2010 uniting scientists working in a broad range of disciplines, including bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, medicine and systems biology. Part of the ECCB conference series, it will be organized this year jointly by the Belgian and Dutch bioinformatics communities.

Résumé: The purpose of this conference is to bring all the people working in the area of epidemiology under one roof and encourage mutual interaction. The conference ICMHA'10 is held under the World Congress on Engineering and Computer Science WCECS 2010. The WCECS 2010 is organized by the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), a non-profit international association for the engineers and the computer scientists. The congress has the focus on the frontier topics in the theoretical and applied engineering and computer science subjects. All submitted papers will be under peer review and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceeding (ISBN: 978-988-17012-0-6).
