Résumé: Third International Training Workshop on Econometric Modeling and Data Analysis (2009): September 07-11, 2009 is organized by International Economic Society (IES) for academicians as well as professionals from public and private sectors. After completing the previous International Training Workshops on Econometric Modeling and Data Analysis (which attracted participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, North Cyprus, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria), IES is now proud of offering this third event. Econometric modeling and data analysis preserves its prior importance in academic sector to publish high quality papers in top ranked international peer reviewed journals and to contribute to research related courses as well as theses in graduate levels. Econometric analysis is also important in public and private sectors for forecasting and estimation about future trends.

Résumé: This program will be focusing on, but not limited to, the following three areas: 1) the pricing and hedging of environmental and energy-related financial derivatives; 2) risk and robust optimization; 3) optimal stopping and singular stochastic control problems in finance. These areas form the substance of 3 workshops in the two-month long program. The workshops are intended for researchers working in the specific areas to congregate, cross-pollinate ideas, exchange knowledge, and together advance the mathematical frontiers in publishing and disseminating rigorous pieces of scholastic work.

Résumé: The Northeast Universities Development Consortium (NEUDC) Conference is a major forum in development economics. NEUDC has organized annual conferences in development economics since 1967. The location and sponsorship of the annual NEUDC conference usually rotates among the organizing institutions: Boston University, Brown University, Cornell University, Harvard University, Tufts University, Williams College and Yale University. The 2009 Conference will be hosted by Tufts University's Department of Economics.

Résumé: The African Remittance Conference (AREC), which will hold in Yaounde, is the initiative of the Institute of Financial and Development Studies (IFIDS), an independent financial thinktank, in partnership with the Government of Cameroon through the Ministry of Finance.

Remittances - money sent home by migrant workers - have been ballooning in the last couple of years, and in many developing countries now exceed the combined volume of international aid and foreign direct investment.

Although remittances have been growing at an astonishing rate of about 30 percent annually, reaching over 250 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 according to the World Bank, Africa?s share of this new source of wealth is about 7 percent of the global total. Furthermore, close to 90% of the funds reaching Africa through remittances are spent on mostly social needs.

Résumé: The first edition of the International Workshop on Multivariate Risks and Copulas which will be held April 14-17, 2010, at Mohamed Khider University of Biskra, Algeria. The workshop will serve as a forum for discussing different issues of risks, copulas, and related topics. The main goal of this scientific event is to gather researchers and practitioners from universities, institutions, industries, and government, working in these fields. The tools and methodologies in progress in probability, statistics, mathematics, and economics that are closely relevant for Univariate and Multivariate Risks will be embraced as well. We are proud to organize this workshop and look forward to welcoming you in Biskra.
