 Dates 26 Aou 2013 → 30 Aou 2013
[ID=542697] Haut de la page
 LieuRoskilde, Danemark
 Résumé Advanced ceramic materials find use in many different applications of great interest, e.g. thermal barrier coatings, piezoactuators, capacitors, solar cells, solid oxide fuel cells and electrolysis cells, membranes, and filters. Such components are typically characterized by complex composite and multilayer architectures, with tailored microstructures; their performance and durability are consequently highly reliant on the individual and cumulative interdependent processing steps. In addition, the single material performance limitations can be further pushed by the development of new innovative structures using ceramic science and engineering. Progress in ceramic forming has enabled low-cost shaping techniques such as tape casting and extrusion to be used in some of the most challenging technologies. These advances allow the design of complex components adapted to desired specific properties and applications. However, there is still only very limited insight into the processes that determine the final properties of such components. The theme will therefore focus on shaping and sintering of functionally graded multi-material architectures. Understanding the interplay between the processing parameters, densification and mechanical behavior of these complex shapes will facilitate the design of components with improved properties.

 Résumé Development of nanoengineering technologies and creation of nanomaterials opened new perspectives for a number of areas of industry and everyday life. These materials demonstrate increased strength, toughness, biocompatibility, and can ensure higher service properties, reliability and lifetime of devices and systems. Having nanostructuring and nanoengineering technologies as the tools to enhance the service properties of devices and machines, we are faced with the question – which structures of nano-enhanced materials should we aim at in order to ensure the requirements? To make the development and optimization of nanostructured materials realizable in practice and efficient computational models and software codes for the virtual, numerical testing of these materials are necessary.

 Dates 25 Sep 2013 → 27 Sep 2013
[ID=510272] Haut de la page
 LieuKiel, Allemagne
 Résumé Intelligent materials with integrated functionalities are required to make devices more energy efficient, autonomous, self-responding, switchable, biocompatible, and anti-bacterial. They are also integrated into novel sensor and actuator devices with significantly increased sensitivity. Such intelligent materials typically have a complex internal structure: they can be composites from different material classes like multiferroics. They might be nanostructured or hierarchically built-up, they could be bio-inspired and possess functional elements ranging from single molecules to the macro-scale.

All those materials and their design and development has to be accompanied by high-resolution analytical tools that are able to characterize the materials on all scales and, moreover, to track and reveal their function-structure relations in situ. The symposium will bring together experts in the field of intelligent materials in order to present and discuss recent developments and detect future trends. The symposium will be a forum to get in contact with international key researchers and stimulate new collaborations for developing novel intelligent material systems, characterizing their functionality from molecular mechanisms to applications.

Numerical simulation has seen spectacular progress with the advent of faster and cheaper computing power. However, such computations require detailed material models for which parameters have to be identified experimentally.

 Dates 28 Sep 2014 → 01 Oct 2014
[ID=554897] Haut de la page
 LieuPittsburgh, États-Unis
 Résumé The symposium covers all aspects of metallurgical processing, materials behavior and microstructural performance for a distinct class of 718 type superalloys and derivatives. There are continuing innovations relative to these alloys as well as novel processing techniques which continue to extend applications in very challenging environments ranging from corrosion resistance in the deep sea to high-stressed space applications.

This technical meeting will focus on Alloy 718 and Superalloys in this class relative to alloy and process development, production, product applications, trends and the development of advanced modeling tools. The symposium provides an opportunity for authors to present technical advancements relative to a broad spectrum of areas while assessing their impact on related fields associated with this critical alloy group.
