1.NFW — National Flood Workshop
 Dates 27 Fév 2012 → 01 Mar 2012
[ID=440312] Haut de la page
 LieuHouston, Texas, États-Unis
 Résumé The Second National Flood Workshop is organized by Weather Research Center (a private, non-profit educational and research center based in Houston, Texas) and its partners. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together various agencies, emergency managers, academia, and professionals from across the nation to encourage dialogue on the various aspects of flooding. This includes the meteorological and hydrological conditions before, during, and after flood events, technological advancements being made in remote data acquisition, flood modeling, and regulations and requirements in flood mitigation and floodplain management. Coastal and offshore operations are also impacted by flood events especially storm surge and high tides from tropical storm and hurricane events which can cause flooding and damage. This year?s conference will add a track where coastal and offshore facilities affected by tropical storm and hurricane events can come together and discuss flooding impacts on their operations.

The goal is to establish a forum to discuss flooding topics, provide education and training, and most importantly to help reduce loss of life and property damage from floods.

 Dates 24 Jui 2012 → 29 Jui 2012
[ID=455146] Haut de la page
 LieuLewiston, ME, États-Unis
 Organisateur Gordon Research Conferences
 Résumé The 2012 Biogenic Hydrocarbons and the Atmosphere Gordon Research Conference will present cutting-edge research of hydrocarbons released by vegetation and their atmospheric impacts. Biogenic hydrocarbons are incredibly important, not only for plant physiology and ecological interactions, but also for atmospheric chemistry and climate. The topics covered in this conference reach from plant biochemistry to canopy-atmosphere interactions to atmospheric chemistry and climate. This multi-disciplinary conference includes the participation of scientists from biology, plant physiology, ecology, chemistry, and atmospheric science. The Conference will bring together a collection of investigators who are at the forefront of their field, and will provide opportunities for junior scientists and graduate students to present their work in poster format and exchange ideas with leaders in the field. Further, a special session will provide a small group of early career scientists to give short oral research presentations. The collegial and inter-disciplinary atmosphere of this Conference, with programmed discussion sessions as well as opportunities for informal gatherings in the afternoons and evenings, provides an excellent venue for scientists from different disciplines to brainstorm and to develop collaborations across scientific fields.
