Résumé: Current advances in polymer chemistry and polymeric coatings have resulted in a rapid development of a new area of 'smart' materials and polymers. They play the most significant role due to their resemblance to biological systems and numerous research efforts focused on mimicking the bio-world. Résumé: Nahezu alle technisch wichtigen Kunststoffe sowie Lacksysteme müssen mittels Stabilisatoren während ihrer Verarbeitung und Einsatzdauer individuell gegen Abbauprozesse geschützt werden. Daneben dienen Polymeradditive der anwendungsorientierten Modifizierung von Werkstoffeigenschaften der Polymere. Bereits seit Jahrzehnten geht daher die Additiventwicklung mit der sukzessiven Entwicklung und Verbreitung technischer Kunststoffe einher. Résumé: Die Teilnehmer bekommen einen Überblick über den Einsatz und die Bedeutung des Werkstoffes 'Kunststoff'. Nachdem Sie mit den zentralen Grundbegriffen der Kunststoffwelt vertraut sind, erlernen Sie die wichtigsten Zusammenhänge zwischen der Polymerstruktur und den Kunststoffeigenschaften. Speziell eingegangen wird auf die Einteilung der Kunststoffe durch die Darstellung der unterschiedlichen Polyreaktionen sowie des unterschiedlichen thermomechanischen Verhaltens. Zur Verdeutlichung werden Beispiele aus der industriellen Praxis (u. a. Automobil- und Elektronikbereich) herangezogen. Durch einfache Übungen wird das erlernte Wissen gefestigt.

Résumé: In diesem Kurs werden in komprimierter Form die Grundlagen und Anwendungsmöglichkeiten des Korrosionsschutzes durch metallische und anorganische Überzüge, organische Beschichtungen sowie Metallvorbehandlungen vermittelt. Weiterhin werden auch die elektrochemischen Schutzverfahren sowie die Anwendung von Inhibitoren in praxisnahen Vorlesungen dargestellt. Als spezielle Themen werden ergänzend die Auswahl korrosionsbeständiger Werkstoffe sowie konstruktive Aspekte des Korrosionsschutzes behandelt. Die Referenten kommen überwiegend aus der industriellen Praxis des Korrosionsschutzes.

Résumé: The European Polymer Congress 2009 (EPF 09) is a great, biannual event coving all aspects of polymer science which has already attracted more than 800 participants. The congress, organized by European Polymer Federation and the Institute for Chemistry and Technology of Materials of Graz University of Technology, will take place in Graz, Austria from the 12. until the 17. of July 2009.

The EPF 09 aims in bringing together a wide range of polymer scientists, researchers, engineers students and others. In about eight parallel sessions including plenary lectures, other oral contributions and poster sessions all major cutting-edge topics of polymer science will be discussed.
