Résumé: The 2008 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology will mark the 5th year anniversary of this event. The conference will provide an excellent venue to present the latest advances in computational intelligence based methods for bioinformatics, computational biology and bioengineering problems, as well as invaluable opportunities to network with other researchers in this exciting field.

Résumé: The Program Committee would like to invite you to participate in the Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Symposium (BIOT-2008) on October 17-18 in Arlington, Texas. BIOT-2008 is the fifth in a series of successful symposia held yearly. Starting from the first symposium in 2004, BIOT has attracted participants from all over the United States, Canada and outside North America.

Research and development in biotechnology requires the collaboration of scientists and engineers in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, chemical engineering, and electrical engineering. This symposium brings together scientists, engineers and scholars from relevant fields with practitioners from industry in order to help each group to understand progress made in the area as a whole.

Résumé: To tackle these illnesses, the cooperation of modelers, mathematicians, statisticians, computer scientists, and others, and of researchers from the medical community is absolutely essential. Modeling is important because it gives important insight into the method of treatment. In the case of HIV/AIDS, for example, mathematical modeling indicated that a combination of both protease inhibitors and reverse transcriptase inhibitors would be far more effective than any one of these two drugs. The purpose of this conference is to bring all the people working in the area of epidemiology under one roof and encourage mutual interaction.

The Rocky series began six years ago as a regional conference, and has grown into an international program with a spotlight on regional development in the computational biosciences.
