| 3.Biopolymers |
| Dates | 03 Jui 2012 → 08 Jui 2012 | [ID=454807] |
| Lieu | Newport, RI, États-Unis |
| Organisateur | Gordon Research Conferences |
| Résumé | The 2012 Biopolymers Gordon Research Conference will explore recent advances and future trends in understanding the relationship between structure and function of biological polymers (e.g. proteins, nucleic acids, macromolecular assemblies), with emphasis on physical and chemical principles underlying their behaviors in solution and in the cellular environment. Session topics will span multiple disciplines, including the consequences of macromolecular crowding, the mechanisms of macromolecular complex assembly and aggregation, structural dynamics and allostery, elasticity and mechanics, and protein folding and design. The sessions have been organized so that each topic is addressed using diverse approaches and techniques including simulation, spectroscopy, single molecule measurements, x-ray crystallography and a variety of biochemical and biophysical solution methods, with applications to basic and clinical science. The Biopolymers GRC is uniquely poised to foster multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary connections between chemistry, computer science, physics and biology. This meeting of scientists applying experimental and theoretical methods to study biological polymers encourages the exchange and discussion of results and ideas among participants with different backgrounds, thereby promoting interdisciplinary research activities. We encourage early registration and submission of abstracts for the poster session. We plan to select posters for short presentations for most of the meeting sessions. |

| Dates | 24 Jui 2012 → 29 Jui 2012 | [ID=455175] |
| Lieu | Newport, RI, États-Unis |

| Résumé | The first Heterocyclic compounds meeting was held in 1964, making it one of the longest running Gordon Research Conferences. This success and longevity is a reflection of the fundamental importance of the subject area. Heterocyclic chemistry is an underpinning science for a whole host of areas that are vital for mankind’s future. These include new therapeutic agents, improved molecules to help sustain and enhance food production as well as dyes and electronic molecules that will play an important role in the conservation of energy as well as the next generation of consumer electronics. The meeting will cover many of these areas with presentations from internationally recognized scientists from both industry and academia . Lectures will describe new ways of synthesizing complex new molecules, new mechanistic insights and the issues with the translation of existing and new methodology into industrial settings. Poster Sessions: There will be two poster sessions at the meeting. Poster presenters will be given preference for acceptance into the meeting. From the poster abstracts received by 1st June 2012, up to four posters will be chosen to be given as "Short Talks" at the meeting. Those interested in showing a poster should submit their abstracts to the Conference Chair. |

| 7.Organic Reactions & Processes |
| Dates | 15 Jul 2012 → 20 Jul 2012 | [ID=455400] |
| Lieu | Smithfield, RI, États-Unis |
| Organisateur | Gordon Research Conferences |
| Résumé | The 59th Organic Reactions and Processes Gordon Research Conference will be chaired by Jean Suffert (Université de Strasbourg) and Scott Sieburth (Temple University). This conference has a rich tradition of industrial and academic participation and will include a diverse set of exceptional speakers from both of these synthetic chemistry realms. In keeping with its considerable history, this conference will highlight the latest developments in synthetic organic chemistry, from the elegant studies that make ton-scale pharmaceutical production possible, to the sophisticated application of new technologies and techniques in total synthesis and combinatorial structure investigations. Relevant, state of the art developments in catalysis, total synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and other high-impact techniques will be included, presented by both established and emerging young investigators. The conference will also continue its tradition of hosting vibrant and interactive poster sessions and attendees are strongly encouraged to submit a poster abstract at the time of their application. A subset of the posters will be selected to present short oral talks on Thursday morning. A globally diverse selection of speakers will convene July 15-20, 2012 at Bryant University, located in lovely, rural northwestern Rhode Island, conveniently located near Providence and Boston airports. Bryant University boasts comfortable accommodations, accessible leisure facilities, an excellent dining service, and a group of superb support staff. |

| 9.ICERM Topical Workshop: Bridging Scales in Computational Polymer Chemistry |
| Dates | 06 Aou 2012 → 10 Aou 2012 | [ID=463017] |
| Lieu | Providence, RI, États-Unis |
| Résumé | Many important advances in material and biomedical science will come from controlling the chemical properties and nanoscale morphology of polymer mixtures. Predicting the longtime continuum-level properties of such complex systems poses a canonical computational challenge due to the disparate length and time scales separating the molecular description from the macroscopic behavior, particularly the evolution of morphology. This workshop focuses on four overlapping approaches to bridging this gap: Accelerated Molecular Methods, Coarse-Graining of Molecular Dynamics, Computational Approaches to Self-Consistent Mean Field, and Coupled Molecular and Continuum-Variational models. The goal is to spur the development of hybrid computational methods with the capacity to identify and characterize the rare events and the driving forces which steer the systems towards equilibrium, and connect the burgeoning growth in parallel-computation techniques for particle-based systems with recently developed classes of continuum models. |
