Résumé: March 2009 will mark the ninteenth annual gathering of environmental professionals to the West Coast Conference on Soils, Sediments and Water. For the past eighteen years, this annual conference has helped to bring the environmental science community closer together by providing a forum to facilitate the exchange of information of technological advances, new scientific achievements, and the effectiveness of standing environmental regulation programs.

The Annual AEHS Meeting and West Coast Conference on Soils, Sediments and Water offers attendees an opportunity to exchange findings, ideas and recommendations in a professional setting. The strong and diverse technical program has been developed to meet the changing needs of the environmental field.

Résumé: Urban Water Management – An Integrated Water Quality Conference and Exhibition

Résumé: Welcome to Urban Water Management, An Integrated Water Quality Conference & Exhibition. Urban Water Management will focus on the integration of Stormwater BMPs, Phase II regulations, green infrastructure, and funding of municipal water management programs. It will cover design, construction, maintenance and emerging technology for urban water quality.

Résumé: AWRA has been a leader in the national dialogue on many aspects of climate change and water resources. The U.S. National Assessment on the Potential Consequences of Climate Variability and Change took place in the late 1990's with significant contributions by AWRA and its membership. Since the National Assessment, the AWRA has continued to promote active dialogue and conversation on climate and water-management issues through publications and specialty conferences. The water-assessment part of this effort resulted in a 1999 Spring Specialty Conference on Potential Consequences of Climate Variability and Change to Water Resources of the United States, and was followed by the publication of more than 30 articles in JAWRA.

Résumé: The World Environmental & Water Resources Congress is an important annual opportunity for the best minds at work in environmental and water fields to convene and focus on topics of the day. This Congress’ central theme is the great rivers of the world and the engineering challenges of balancing environmental and development issues while achieving a sustainable future. It is imperative that those working on the front lines – at the environmental/water engineering nexus – share insights from research and practical experience in the field to generate best practices for the future on issues such as river system management, environmental issues, watershed management and restoration, dam safety, hydraulic structures, and so much more.

Résumé: The theme for this conference is “Exploring New Hydrologic Warning Frontiers”— befitting the Rocky Mountain location and the advancements being made in protecting lives, property and the environment with hydrologic warning systems. The conference is intended for a multi-disciplinary audience including field personnel, flood engineers, hydrologists, forecasters, water resource managers, and emergency management officials that operate hydrologic monitoring systems or use the information that they provide.

Résumé: This three-day symposium will celebrate the science legacy of the Marcell Experimental Forest (MEF). This symposium will synthesize past research, current research efforts, and prospects for future research in peatland/upland systems.

Résumé: This conference is intended to engage the key managers, researchers and “on the ground” practitioners that currently are setting the trends relative to designing and implementing adaptive management programs. The overall goal remains the establishment of a forum where we can learn more about the basis, theories and practical aspects of adaptive management; where we can gain a better perspective about national, regional and local directions, requirements and needs; and where we can share experiences in order to improve our existing programs and to develop more rigorous, credible future adaptive management programs.
