S3PBIGDATA — 2016 IEEE Signal Processing Society Summer School on Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Big Data
ID
796584
Dates
17 mai 2016 - 19 mai 2016
Lieu
Pittsburgh, PA, États-Unis
Résumé
Humans, machines and sensors daily generate an enormous amount of data. Much of this data is now accessible and provides an opportunity to explore, analyze and extract potentially highly useful information. In many cases, the volume and speed of data generation makes traditional centralized data analysis infeasible. The lack of structure, and the amount of noise and outliers emphasize the need for robust processing across heterogeneous data domains. High dimensionality makes it challenging to visualize and interpret the data. This Summer School will provide an introduction to the current efforts to explore Big Data from a signal processing perspective. Topics will range from foundations for Big Data analysis and processing (robust statistical methods, sparse representations, numerical linear algebra, machine learning) to Big Data applications (social networks, behavior and language analysis, genomics and bioinformatics, smart grid, environmental monitoring, etc.)

ACM DEBS — Association for Computing Machinery International Conference on Distributed and Event-Based Systems
ID
759923
Dates
20 jui 2016 - 24 jui 2016
Lieu
Irvine, États-Unis
Résumé
Starting this year DEBS is extending its scope to embrace a broader set of topics related to distributed systems and event-based computing. Topics of particular interest may include (but are not limited to) models, architectures and paradigms of distributed and event-based systems, middleware systems and frameworks, and applications, experiences and requirements. The scope of the DEBS conference covers all topics relevant to distributed and event-based computing ranging from those discussed in related disciplines (e.g., software systems, distributed systems, distributed data processing, data management, dependability, knowledge management, networking, programming languages, security and software engineering), to domain-specific topics of event- based computing (e.g., real-time analytics, mobile computing, social networking, pervasive, green computing and ubiquitous computing, sensors networks, user interfaces, big data processing, spatio-temporal processing, cloud computing, the Internet of things, peer-to-peer computing, embedded systems and stream processing), to enterprise-related topics (e.g., complex event detection, enterprise application integration, real-time enterprises and web services). In addition to these traditional topics, the scope of DEBS 2016 will include the increasingly important area of Internet of Things. New advances in distributed and event- based systems pose a great potential for a major contribution in this area. MDA — International Conference on Mass Data Analysis of Images and Signals
ID
760252
Dates
09 jul 2016 - 12 jul 2016
Lieu
New York City, États-Unis
Résumé
The automatic analysis of images and signals in medicine, biotechnology, System Biology, chemistry, biometry, drug discovery and information robots is a challenging and demanding field. Signal-producing procedures by microscopes, spectrometers and other sensors have found their way into wide fields of medicine, biotechnology, economy and environmental analysis. With this arises the problem of the automatic mass analysis of signal information. Signal-interpreting systems which generate automatically the desired target statements from the signals are therefore of compelling necessity. The continuation of mass analyses on the basis of the classical procedures leads to investments of proportions that are not feasible. New procedures and system architectures are therefore required. The scope of conference is to bring together researcher, praticioners and industry people who are dealing with mass analysis of images and signals to present and discuss recent research in these fields. The goals of this conference are to: -    provide a forum for identifying important contributions and opportunities for research on mass data analysis on microscopic images, -    promote the systematic study of how to apply automatic image analysis and interpretation procedures to that field -    show case applications of mass data analysis in biology, medicine, and chemistry.
