After the 1997 merger, Hughes Research Laboratories was legally renamed “HRL Laboratories, LCC” with GM and Raytheon co-owners. In 2007, Raytheon sold its stake in HRL, though it still maintained research and contractual relations. A history of laser development and applications at Hughes/Raytheon will be presented as well as current laser work being accomplished at Raytheon.
