The theme of the conference is “Building Inclusive Societies through Enriching Plurilingual and Pluricultural Education”.
16-17 May 2018
Palais de l'Europe, Avenue de l'Europe Strasbourg, France
The objectives of the Launching Conference are to:
present the CEFR Companion Volume with New Descriptors;
bring together curriculum designers, education professionals, researchers and policy makers to address key considerations for a successful implementation of the CEFR/CV, in particular the new descriptors for mediation, in plurilingual and pluricultural education; and
provide a stimulus for the practical implementation of the CEFR/CV in pluricultural and plurilingual education across member states, and a clear frame for evaluation of educational impact.
The expected outcomes are:
recommendations from the group work during the conference,
an agreed set of guidelines with an accompanying documentation template for conducting and reporting on local implementation,
initiatives for further discussion and piloting such as special interest groups to engage in follow up online exchanges of best practice,
an initial list of possible contributors to a volume of CEFR/CV case studies to be published by the Council of Europe.
