"Algebraic geometry and complex geometry"
11 Dec 2017 - 05 Dec 2017 • Luminy, France
Constant scalar curvature metrics in Sasaki and Kähler geometry
15 Jan 2018 - 19 Jan 2018 • Luminy- CIRM- Marseille, France
Representation spaces, Teichmuller theory, and their relationship with 3-manifolds from the classical and quantum viewpoints
29 Jan 2018 - 02 Feb 2018 • CIRM, Marseille-Luminy, France
The main aim of the conference is to bring together mathematicians from France and Japan working in lowdimensional topology so as to encourage collaborations in the field between the two countries. Although there will be a special focus on representation spaces at large, the seminars will cover a vast spectrum of topics in low-dimensional topology. Interested participants from other countries are welcome.
Thematic Month: Low Dimensional Topology and Related Topics
29 Jan 2018 - 23 Feb 2018 • CIRM, Marseille, Luminy, France
The aim of the session is to provide a review of the interactions between 3-dimensional topology and some other fields of mathematics and the open questions they prompted. The session will mainly focus on existing connections with representation theory, 4-dimensional geometry and topology, and geometric group theory.
Jean-Morlet Chair Whole Semester on Geometry, Topology, and Group Theory in Dimension 3 (Genevieve Walsh and Luisa Paoluzzi)
01 Feb 2018 - 31 Jul 2018 • CIRM Luminy, France
This semester of the Jean-Morlet Chair will feature several events. Firstly, a large conference focusing on the structure of 3-manifold groups, as well as on structures of groups inspired by structures on 3-manifolds?such as PD(3) groups, relatively hyperbolic groups, and building. Secondly, a research school for PhD students and recent post-docs, centering on current research in 3-Manifolds and Geometric Group Theory, and looking at the interplay between the two topics. Thirdly, a medium-size workshop centering on extremely current topics and taking into account Cannon's conjecture and related conjectures, the relation to QIs, CAT(0) boundaries, boundaries of hyperbolic buildings, relatively hyperbolic groups, and rigidity. Masterclasses for local students and Research in Pairs events will also be held during the semester.
WB VIII — Winterbraids VIII
05 Feb 2018 - 09 Feb 2018 • Marseille, France
Winterbraids VIII is the eigth edition of an itinerant school on braids and low-dimensional topology, that will be held at CIRM (http://www.cirm-math.com) from February 5th to 9th, 2018. The school will take place in a thematic month on low dimensional topology and related topic and it will be mainly supported by the CIRM, the GDR Tresses and the University of Aix-Marseille. The main lectures will be given by: Claire Amiot (University of Grenoble-Alpes, Cluster algebras and categorification); Michel Boileau (University of Aix-Marseille, 3-manifolds groups and related topics); Tara Brendle (University of Glasgow, Congruence braid groups); David Gay (University of Georgia, From Heegaard splittings to trisections; porting 3-dimensional ideas to dimension four). There will also be short talks and a poster session devoted to student presentations (not necessarily focused on braids or their generalizations).

Knotted embeddings in dimensions 3 and 4
12 Feb 2018 - 16 Feb 2018 • Marseille, France
The main purpose of the conference is to review the state of the art in the understanding of knotted surfaces in dimension 4, focusing on how these surfaces are exploited to study knots and links in dimension 3. In particular, the interactions between the new tools that allow to describe knotted surfaces and the study of the knot concordance group will be explored. The conference will take place within the framework of a thematic month on «low dimensional topology and related topics» (see http://conferences.cirm-math.fr/1673.html for more details).

Geometry of Groups and 3-Manifolds: State of the Art and Perspectives
19 Feb 2018 - 23 Feb 2018 • CIRM, Marseille, Luminy, France
The object of this week is to bring together specialists in the domains of Riemannian geometry, low-dimensional topology, and geometric group theory to take stock of current interactions and encourage new exchanges in this area of rapid progress.
Structure of 3-manifold Groups
26 Feb 2018 - 02 Mar 2018 • CIRM, Marseille-Luminy, France
The conference will focus on the structure of 3-manifold groups as well as structures on groups inspired by structures on 3-manifolds, such as PD (3) groups, relatively hyperbolic groups and buildings.
Arithmetic and Algebraic Geometry
11 Jun 2018 - 15 Jun 2018 • Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHÉS), B, France
A conference in honor of Ofer Gabber on the occasion of his 60th birthday
3-Manifolds and Geometric Group Theory
11 Jun 2018 - 15 Jun 2018 • CIRM, Marseille-Luminy, France
The aim of this one-week school is to bring PhD students and recent post-docs up-to-date on current research happening in Geometric Group Theory and 3-manifolds. We will focus in particular on the interplay between the two topics, where the theory of hyperbolic 3-manifolds is an important influence in the modern theory of hyperbolic groups and their relatives.
