Border Security Conference
10 Feb 2021 - 11 Feb 2021 • online, United Kingdom
Organizer:
SMi Group
Abstract:
With COVID-19 spreading across the globe, the security and integrity of a nation’s borders has rarely been more important than now. Amid this disruption, the problems of migration, cross-border criminality, and smart-borders have become even more critical as rogue elements seek to exploit the situation. These issues need to be addressed urgently by the international community. Now in its fourteenth year, the Border Security Conference has established itself as a market leader in this sector and will return in February 2021 to meet these issues head-on. The conference provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with senior military staff, government figures and industry from around the world, all responsible in their own way for enhancing border security capabilities on a global scale. Join us virtually to explore the latest insight on the security and integrity of border points (land, ports, airports, or illegal ingress points) in response to growing global threats.

6th IMA Conference on Mathematics in Defence and Security - Mathematics Adapting to a Changing World
30 Mar 2021 • Imperial College, London, United Kingdom
Abstract:
Science and technology play an increasingly important role in supporting the defence and security industries. Mathematics is fundamental to these two disciplines, providing a framework for understanding and solving the varied and complex problems faced, and to model systems and scenarios. These models are then used to estimate system performance, find weaknesses in real systems, and suggest improvements.

6th IMA Mathematics in Defence and Security — Online Event: 6th IMA Conference on Mathematics in Defence and Security
30 Mar 2021 - 31 Mar 2021 • London – online, United Kingdom
Organizer:
Institute of Mathematics and its Applications
Abstract:
This conference brings together a wide variety of mathematical methods with defence and security applications. The programme will include keynote speakers, presentations and poster sessions, as well as refreshment breaks for informal discussions. It is aimed towards mathematicians, scientists and engineers from both industry and academia, in addition to government and military personnel who have an interest in how mathematics can be applied to defence and security problems. This will be the sixth Mathematics in Defence and Security, conference albeit the first with ‘Security’ explicitly mentioned in the title; the previous conferences each attracted over 100 delegates from a wide range of organisations including Dstl, QinetiQ, AWE, BAE Systems, Thales, Rolls Royce, the IMA, the MoD, academia and international parties. In response to the Covid-19 situation, this event will be held virtually via Zoom Webinar. Our intention is that the scientific programme will remain very similar to that of an in-person event. This year we are delighted that keynote presentations will be given by Dr Ned Allen (Former Lockheed Martin Chief Scientist), Phillippa Spencer (DSTL) and Marc Widdowson (Director of Amarna Ltd)

Military Space Situational Awareness 2021
28 Apr 2021 - 29 Apr 2021 • Virtual, United Kingdom
Organizer:
SMi Group
Abstract:
As our orbital environment becomes ever more congested and contested, the need for effective Situational Awareness to support space operations has become increasingly important. With this in mind, SMi Group are proud to announce that the 16th annual Military Space Situational Awareness Conference will take place online as a virtual event on the 28th and 29th April 2021. As the leading conference in Europe dedicated to space domain awareness, Military Space Situational Awareness will bring together leading experts from the UK, US, Europe and beyond, to discuss how we can build a collaborative approach to space management, as well as how we must balance operational necessity with responsible use of space. As the next generation of mega-constellations are sent into orbit, understanding where satellites are and how they are interacting with other platforms is essential, so that a repeat of the 2009 Iridium crash can be avoided.
