Radiology in paediatric oncology - an update

Abstract:
This event will provide an update on the current major challenges faced by clinicians dealing with children who present with some of the commoner tumours of childhood, both from an oncology perspective but also from a radiological viewpoint. The speakers comprise some of the leading paediatric oncologists and radiologists from around the UK. The lecture topics include neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumours, rhabdomyosaroma, osteosarcoma, and lymphomas plus sessions on functional imaging and interventional radiology in pediatric oncology. The day will finish with some interactive case sessions.

Proton therapy for non-protoneers

Abstract:
The UK government has invested £250m in establishing two NHS proton therapy centres – one at The Christie in Manchester, due to open in 2018, and one at UCLH in London which is due to open in 2020. This, combined with new proton facilities in several private centres, will overhaul the way cancer is treated in the UK. This meeting is to inform radiotherapy professionals on how they can access these new resources, which patients they should be referring and how this new service is going to impact healthcare in the future
