GIMS14 — 14th International Conference on Gas in Marine Sediments
14 Oct 2018 - 20 Oct 2018 • Haifa, Israel
The interdisciplinary conference intends to bring together geologists, biologists, microbiologists, geophysicists, oceanographers, geochemists and scientists from other disciplines in order to facilitate interdisciplinary and international cooperation. The forum will provide a platform for current knowledge and future programs in methane inventories, fluxes and their role within the carbon cycle and biodiversity.
Formation of methane and other gases in shallow sediments, Subsurface fluid flow and associated geochemical and thermal gradients, Bubbles in sediment and water column, Gas hydrate presence including formation and destabilization Imaging of sub-seafloor gas structures by seismic studies, Diversity and processes of cold seeps pockmarks and mud volcanoes, Regional studies on the abundance and distribution of gas and gas hydrate, Seafloor gas emissions to the water column and the atmosphere, Biological, microbiological and biogeochemical processes at cold seeps, Methane related authigenic mineral precipitation, Technologies for detection and quantification of gas seepage
